Too many babies
September 27th, 2005 @ 3:11 pm

I invited my friend over last night to watch the million episodes of “A Baby Story” that I have taped for her. She is about 8 months pregnant, and like everyone else, has no idea that I am also pregnant.

She had admitted to me a few weeks ago that she had never watched a birth before. I figured watching “A Baby Story” would be the best thing for her. I for warned her last night and she assured me she was prepared to watch.

After the first episode, she was glad she was watching. She was relieved to know that she had the same fears as the woman on the show. The second episode was an emergency C-section. She didn’t like that at all and requested further episodes be “only vaginal births, please”. After the third episode, we were both done. Too many babies. Too much screaming during delivery. Too many back stories about how much in love the couple is. Just too much.

I am not far along enough to be worrying about my delivery. I just keep telling myself “just one more week and then you can stop worrying about the baby”. After two miscarriages, that is what happens to you.

This morning, I deleted the rest of the episodes that I had saved for her. Now I don’t have to fill up the DVR with baby crap and can go back to filling it up with my regular programmed shows.

All hail the new TV season.

Congrats Isabel! - your right about the whole Baby story show. It walks a fine line between inspirational and nauseating. Anyway- I used to live in Spokane (spo-compton as the locals like to call it). Love WA, miss it!
