I have the hips of an 80 year oldOctober 31st, 2005 @ 8:52 am
Rumor has it, you can’t sleep on your back after your 16th week of pregnancy. Something about how it will kill your baby. I wasn’t worried about this, because I didn’t think I usually slept on my back. I was wrong. Apparently, sleeping on my back is my favorite position. I learned this after I reached my 16th week and tried to stop sleeping on my back. This is impossible to do.
Every time I wake up in the night I am on my back. And quite comfortably on my back, I might add. I usually have my t-shirt pulled up and my ever-growing belly sticking out. I worriedly think “crap, I need to move to my side, quick”. But my hips hurt so bad (and did I mention how comfortable I am on my back?). Just the thought of rolling over makes me just about cry.
Last night while we were at Sunday dinner at The King’s parents house (which we do every Sunday night, which I love), I asked my sister in law how she was able to sleep comfortably while pregnant (she had TWINS last May). She just laughed and said “you don’t”.
Man, I have a long way to go. I hope I can make it.
**Do any of these sleep aids help? I mean, should I even bother buying one?

November 01, 2005 UPDATE:
Internet, I took your advice. I slept with an extra pillow behind my back last night. And can I just say…slept like a baby. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Veronica Mars blah, blah, blahOctober 28th, 2005 @ 10:20 am

If you’ve new to this blog then you probably don’t know that I love “Veronica Mars”. The King started watching from episode one last year. I didn’t like it…at first. But then Veronica and Logan got together and I was so happy. So happy. They had chemistry. They were hot. I was in love. I mean come on, Logan is NOT a 17 year old high school kid. (He’s even married in real-life-and a Scientologist, but you can’t hold that against him).
So if you are like me and really fell in love with Logan/Veronica last year. Then you must also be very disappointed that they aren’t together this season. And not only are they not together. But Logan is a jerk. A big jerk. To the point that I have a hard time believing it’s the same person that was so sweet to Veronica before.*

I am not sure what the writers have up their sleeves. They can’t expect to keep this whole Duncan guy around. He’s not very likeable and there just isn’t the chemistry. I mentioned the chemistry, right? There has to be some sort of turn of events that will throw Veronica back into the loving arms of Logan. Except that I heard that Logan might actually be the one responsible for the bus crash. I can’t believe it.
The King and I just watched this week’s episode last night. I am not sure about it. Does Veronica still have feelings for Logan? Or is she realizing that she has feelings for Wallace, which I am not ready for because they are just too good of friends? And will that matter now that Wallace is gone?
I need answers. Do you have answers?
*I realize that Logan went through a lot during the summer. But come on, get over the fact that you Dad killed your girlfriend that he was also sleeping with. And then tried to kill your current girlfriend. Oh, and so you almost went to jail for murder? So what.

How do you make Isabel forget that they pay her practically nothing for all of her hard work?
Serve free Cold Stone ice cream at work.
Yummy.

I just can’t commitOctober 27th, 2005 @ 11:28 am
We signed up for Netflix this summer while all of our favorite shows were on hiatus. I know, I know-we are the like the last people in America to sign up. The King and I were instantly converted to Netflix. We watched a new movie every day. It was fun, it was relaxing, it kept us busy.
We sort of got burnt out on movies after a few months. It was hard to stay awake each night during a movie. The movies ended up just sitting by our TV for a few days before we just gave us and sent them back without even watching them. We knew this was bad, but we just couldn’t commit to 2 hours each night anymore.
So we took the advice of our “Friends List” and started to get TV shows. They were perfect for us. We could watch a few episodes each night without falling asleep.
As of this week we finished watching our two new TV shows. We loved “Undeclared” and can’t figure out why it was cancelled after such a short time. Word to the wise, if you watch the DVD of this show they are NOT in the correct order. I repeat, they are not in the correct order and will just mess you up. Come to think of it, maybe this is why it didn’t last long. The viewer couldn’t follow the plot.
The other show we just finished this week is “Arrested Development”. There is nothing I can say about this show except, if you aren’t watching it you are dumb. Because it is just that good. So start watching it on Monday nights on Fox.
The King and I have now run out of things to watch. I put “Doogie Houser”, “Felicity”, and “Scrubs”. But I am not sure I am ready to commit to any of these.
So, do you have any others that you can recommend?? I am afraid we’ll have to cancel our Netflix account due to lack of interest.

This American LifeOctober 26th, 2005 @ 11:59 am

I love NPR. For those of you who don’t know what that is, it is National Public Radio. It’s like Public Television, except on the radio. (Believe me, there are some people out there that don’t know what NPR is. My family has no idea!) I love to listen to it in the car. That way I can learn something and arrive at my destination. Yes, I am a big nerd.
A few years ago my BFF turned me onto the NPR show “This American Life” which is produced and hosted by my secret boyfriend Ira Glass.
The shows format is: “Each week we choose a theme and put together different kinds of stories on that theme.” They like to say their stories are like movies for radio. They tell amazing stories, for instance there is one about a Hasidic Jew who becomes an underground punk rocker, and one about a family who’s oldest child is part African American (they are Caucasian) and nobody has figured out that he just didn’t fit in-and what happens when it all comes out. There is also one about a French woman who’s two daughters are killed in a car crash, and she is writing a letter to her friend telling her about her daughters. I mean, really interesting and moving stuff.
I love this show. As in, I am a fanatic. It comes on every Saturday at 11:00. I listen religiously. You can also listen to them via their website, which is what I usually do at work when I have a boring task to do. I have heard all of the shows. Some of them more than once.
My BFF and I have been on a mission to convert others to the show. We figure if we can get you to listen to just one episode, you will be hooked forever (oh, it’s that good). Last year I (fully) converted my friend that lives back East in Boston. We used to e-mail each other about what shows we were listening to, or what to listen to next. We even started calling it TAL for short (which is extra nerdy).
Today I got to work and he had e-mailed this little program with hotlinks to each episode so you can download them directly to your iPod. Oh my goodness. This is like Christmas in October. (He said it will take something like 15 gigs, but still, so awesome).
I told The King that he’d better download some for our upcoming trip to Europe. I can just imagine riding through the small towns of Germany on the train with Ira’s voice in the background. Heaven I tell you, Heaven.
If you haven’t heard the show, check the listings on their website. I promise you that you won’t be disappointed. It may even change your life (that is a very strong statement).
Oh, and I have said it for years, if we have a boy I want to name him Ira. (I have not fully converted The King to this…yet!)
