Stick with me, babyMarch 15th, 2006 @ 8:00 am

I never told you, but The King got me the best Valentine’s Day present in the history of the world. Oh, your husband got you Tiffany diamonds and chocolates. I laugh at that.
All this coming from a girl that really isn’t into romance. The King and I had even made a pact that we wouldn’t buy each other presents this year. We may have even shook on it.
Oh, do you want to know what he got me? Just two tickets to see Rhett Miller, the lead singer for my very favorite band of all time, The Old 97’s. Haven’t heard of them? I’m not surprised. For some odd reason they haven’t received the recognition they deserve.
So this Rhett Miller is the master of hair flipping, hot guitar moves, lyrics pertaining to sex (but you wouldn’t realize unless you really listen to them) and the owner of the hottest face mole since Cindy Crawford. Yes I know, I’m a 30 year old women with the sexual mind of a 12 year old girl. I’ve accepted it. You should to.
The tickets for next week’s show aren’t the best part of this story. While they are totally awesome, it gets better. All thanks to fact that I lug this huge belly around all day.
This specific concert venue is small. You just have to stand and hope you can see the stage. We’ve all been to places like this. I decided last week to e-mail them. You know the drill, just testing the waters. In this e-mail I explained that I’m about to have a baby-but I would die if I had to miss Rhett’s solo show, and how my feet hurt and maybe could they reserve a table for us? I might have mentioned that we are thinking of naming the baby after Rhett. Which we aren’t really. But it made the e-mail sound so much better.
What did I find in my inbox today? An e-mail informing me that a reserved table will be waiting for The King and I on the night of said show. They told me where the table is located, and The King recognized the area as the VIP area for media, etc. Hello…we are going to be VIP’s at the bestest show. Ever. Thanks to being knocked up. See-there are bonus’ for this whole pregnancy thing (you know, besides actually having a sweet baby to love and snuggle for the rest of our lives).
When I e-mailed The King this morning to tell him the good news, I said, “stick with me baby, because this is how I roll!”

(We’d better not get used to stuff like this. Because I hear that once you have a kid you can kiss going out to concerts goodbye. Good thing we have four shows to see next week alone. Man, I’d better not have this baby this weekend.)

Updated on my afternoon break to add more pictures of the lovely Rhett Miller. Because he’s just that HOTT. Don’t forget to check out his website to hear his new album streaming.

You can still go see shows…you just have to remember that you won’t be able to sleep in afterwards!
For some strange reason…kiddos just don’t get the concept of sleepin in after rockin the night away…

Congrats on the super star treatment. Just goes to show you “ask thou shall receive” or something like that.
You should totally continue to go to concerts, I find that the best parents and really kids too are the ones that continue their lives in addition to the baby and don’t allow the baby to define them. Just my opinion, what do I know.

Work that tummy! I admire your flair on that one.
And I mirror everyone else when I say that you can do things after baby. It takes more planning and sometimes after all the planning you may need to cancel, but you can still be too cool for school.
Have fun at your show!

It’s true; I’ve never heard of The Old 97’s, but I do believe that Rhett has him some rockin’ hair. I live for live shows; The Gorge is my favorite venue of all time.

Very, very cool Isabel. I can hear the excitment in your voice (or fingers). These concerts sound like the perfect thing to get your mind off of “I’m ready to have this baby!”
And for the record, I think Rhett is a pretty pimp name. Hey, worked for that Rhett, right?
Have a fabulous time at your VIP table.

I’ve just realized that you’re one of those cool people who go to concerts all the time and know all these amazing bands. I wish I could be like that, I just…am lazy I guess. I’ll just depend on you to share the wealth when you come across an especially good band. (I’m going to have to listen to your little hottie sometime today)…
And way to play up the whole pregnancy thing. Do it as much as possible, while it lasts, I say!

Thanks for posting all the Rhett photos. Yum. (For any who haven’t seen him live, he’s even hotter in action — if you google Rhett Miller images there are great ones of Sweaty Singing Rhett With Guitar.) And congrats on getting celebrity treatment. I am so going to try that when we go see Eisley in May. Yeah, we can still get out once in awhile without our three kids, but not as often as we used to, so I look forward to concerts two months in advance now. A little pathetic.
Is Rhett his real name? I do think it’s a good one. I read in an interview his name is actually Stuart Ransom Miller, but wasn’t sure if it was a joke b/c of “Barrier Reef” or if the joke in “Barrier Reef” was just based on his sordid love life.

You rock. I loooovvee The Old 97s. I was just listening to Fight Songs yesterday.
Have a blast at the show and if you are not in labor, please provide us with a review, from the front row.
I hope I’ll still be attending concerts at 9 months. You’re my hero.

VIP?! Lucky duck. The venue I saw him at didn’t have a VIP area (standing room only), you just had to get there early and stake out your spot in the front of the room.
