Yes, we have no baby todayApril 3rd, 2006 @ 8:00 am
I am 39 weeks along. And I don’t feel like this baby is ever coming out. Which is fine, I guess. The King and I have been really enjoying our time together. Maybe that is how the human brain works. You know, it knows what’s coming up, so it allows us to be extra happy when we’re alone together. Blah, blah, blah.
This weekend I moved lots of furniture around. All by myself (hey, I was hoping it would start something. Which it didn’t). I moved the bookshelves out of the bedroom and set the crib up. Well, The King put it together before he left for Canada. But I put the crib set together. (I didn’t dare put the fancy sheet on the mattress, because I’ve heard so many horror stories about “blow outs”, so I just put a plain white sheet on it.)
Preston loves the crib. He slept in it the first night. It was so cute that I just couldn’t bring myself to make him get out (The King had the camera with him, so there are no pictures to prove how cute it was). I figure Preston won’t want anything to do with the crib once the baby is in it.
See that cute piggy bank on the drawers? The guys from my work gave it to me. Filled with actual cash. They rule, basically. I guess the money is for the baby’s bank account. Or something like that. Which I need to get set up.
This is what the “baby’s corner” looks like now. See, it’s much better. We have the set of drawers for the clothes in the bedroom, and this set in the front room. And look at the cute diaper cake my friends made me. I can’t bring myself to take it apart. I’m sure I will once I need the diapers.
I’m still at work and plan to be all week. What am I thinking? I guess I’m thinking the longer I can stay at work before the baby comes, the longer I can stay at home once the baby comes. But seriously, the clothes…they aren’t fitting anymore.
The King did promise me last night that he will be my slave for the rest of the week. I liked the sound of that so much that I immediately requested a Blizzard. He told me I would have to wait until tonight. After dinner. I may have to just get my own for lunch today. That counts for “lunch”, right?
Erika hasn’t had her baby yet. Which makes me nervous that I will go over my due date to. I don’t know if I have the patience for that like she does. (And Erika, I hear ya…I am SICK to death of talking about babies all day long! And I’m just as guilty as you are!)
**I just read through this post. And I’m sorry it is the most boring post. Ever. This is what it’s come to people, boring baby/crib talk. Save me!**

I speak for everyone when I say to Isabel and Erika, “We are sorry for speaking about baby stuff all the time to you! Our brains just shut down and we can’t think of anything but the miracle of that there’s a HUMAN inside you!” As a reader of Erika’s blog and also her co-worker, at work retirement parties and even at her work baby shower I was trying to think of anything else to talk to her about. It was very difficult.
Um….see any more Rhett concerts in the last 48 hours?

Cute crib! Hopefully the baby will take that as a sign that he can make his appearance anytime!

You are not boring at all. I love reading about how you and The King are getting everything together. And I’ll love it even more when your baby is here and you’re sharing his newest quirks with us.
Also, have you considered working from home until the baby is born? I think Amalah did that for the last few days before Noah’s birth.
I am such a Blog Nerd.

That last post? was me. Cause I’m an idiot and forgot to do things like put words TOGETHER to make actual sentences! So let me start over….what I was TRYING to say was Hang in there! You could only be 24 weeks again like me. And from where I am, 40 weeks seems a LOOOOOOOOONG way away! Are you gonna let us know when you go into labor? lol

I love, love, love the crib and bedding.
I’m the same way with work. I don’t want to miss any time now b/c that would be time that I’ll have to make up when the baby is here and then I’ll miss him.

Good luck and hope labor comes at exactly the right moment. (and goes quickly and as painlessly as possible, of course).

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your bedding set. That is so cute and airy. Perfect for spring. Here’s a tip that might save you some time in the night if there are blowouts: put on one mattress pad, then one sheet THEN one more mattress pad and then yet another sheet. This way, you do not have to entirely change the sheets before putting baby back to bed after a blowout or pukefest. This has saved us from having to lift the mattress out of the bed in the middle of the night on several occassions. I wish it had been my idea, but I stole it from another mom.
OMG- when I was pregnant I would go to lunch and eat a full sub sammich and chips and then get a blizzard, too. I was such a piggy sometimes. But it was fun and I had an excuse, right?

Want to know how stupid I am?
I guess I got confused for a minute and thought Preston was the baby’s name. So you said Preston slept in there, and I couldn’t figure out how that happened if the baby wasn’t here yet. Then I thought, “okay, maybe Isabel slept in the crib, too.” I couldn’t figure out how that happened, considering how you’re so pregnant. Then I thought maybe that was your tricky way of saying the baby came over the weekend, and I was impressed that you’re back to blogging already.
Then I realized Preston is the cat.
I think Britney Spears threw me off.
That bedding is adorable.

Hi Isabel…I’m so jealous you got to see Tim in concert. Sooo jealous. Very excited you are having a baby!! My boyfriend’s sister is pregnant with a boy too–she is due in July. I went into Mimi Maternity with her and it was insane–it made me want a baby so bad. Maybe I should get married first…yeah, that would be good.

i LOOOOOOOOVE that bedding. I want it on my bed! Once again King/Isabel style trumps all! How about you save it all and hand it down to me in about 4 years?
Or sooner, if I have my way with things.
You are always so good at looking at the bright side of things, i.e. you are sick of being preggers, but able to appreciate your last few days alone with the King. I hope they are wonderful and I know that little guy will come soon enough.

Love the crib & bedding!
It gets so hard to wait during those last few days. I actually worked past my due date. The last Friday I worked, two days after my due date, I told them I wasn’t coming back and went into labor Saturday night. I guess I made the right decision!
Can’t wait to read about your little prince!

Are people calling you all the time to ask if you’ve had the baby? I think EVERYONE, including my husband, has forgotten that I’m anything but a baby incubator!
And it’s just as bad when I write in my blog, I feel sooo boring.
On another note, I’ve been watching this Dairy Queen commercial with the pregnant woman and it’s really making me want one. Unfortunately our stupid Dairy Queen went out of business! boo!

I’m so jealous that you get to finally meet your baby soon. Also jealous about the absolutely adorable crib bumper thing you have. I can’t really tell from the picture: Do you think that could pass for unisex, since I’m not finding out what the baby is??
Your post wasn’t boring at all!! I actually enjoyed seeing your cute little baby corner, you’re giving me some good ideas, because I have absolutely nothing for the baby yet…

That piggy bank filled with money is a great idea! And the crib is lovely. Very smart in putting a simple bed sheet on it… Blow outs will ensue.

Look at it this way, if you do go past your due date, you can guilt trip your kid for at least 18 years with it.
“You’re going to talk to me like that after I carried you under my heart for 9 months?? Except it wasn’t just 9 months was it? It was MORE than that. Because I love you. And this is how you treat me.”

That bedding is precious (my preciousss, myyy pressssious. Ok, I’m a dork.)
Anyway, like so many other people said. Keep working until you can’t. It will at least give you something to keep yourself occupied. If you take off early, you will become so bored and only think to yourself and the baby, “GET OUT”. At least that’s what happend to me.

NOT boring. Talk of blizzards and cash and cats in cribs (almost like the cat’s in the cradle, you know…) are never boring.
I cannot wait for you to have that little tyke. But I also will be sad if your blog isn’t constantly updated. I hope you plan to blog from the hospital. Ha!

Not boring to us. We read your blog because we want to hear about baby/crib talk. I can’t believe you are 39 weeks already! You will be holding your little one before you know it, and then these days will just be a blur. btw, the crib is adorable and so is the diaper cake.

Your post wasn’t boring, I loved it! It’s so exciting hearing about how close you are to having your baby… and I loved the crib! That diaper cake is so cute, I will need to remember that. You’ll need to let us know when the baby comes!
