Boogies and Nicaragua
July 17th, 2006 @ 11:33 am

You know when your baby gets a stuffed up nose and can’t breathe? And you just want to yell at him to just blow your nose, already!? Well, that’s what’s going on at our house right now.

Poor Babboo can’t seem to breathe. Especially when he has his face smooshed up against my boobies. Which makes him not want to eat, which makes him too upset to eat and very tired, but not able to actually fall asleep.

Which means I was up most of the night trying to calm him down enough for him to fall back to sleep. It was a long night for Mommy. But not for Daddy.

I know, I know, I should have woken him up to help out. Believe you me; I’ll wake him up tonight.

I survived being in charge of the time sheets last Friday. Only one guy didn’t turn his in. Come to find out he was in Nicaragua. Um, do people even go to Nicaragua? And if they do go there, WHY? I didn’t ask him why he was there. I just did his time sheet for him.

Framing continues over at the new house. The framer seems to be a much harder worker than the concrete crew was. He even invited us to his kid’s birthday party on Saturday. We didn’t go, but he gets points for inviting us, complete strangers.

(Oh, and is it odd that the framer asked The King for $3,000 up front because he needed it for his kid’s FIRST birthday party? I don’t know what kind of parties are being thrown in this day and age, but be assured Babboo won’t have a first birthday party that costs that kind of money!)

And still, no picture of Baby Suri.

(crap, I just remembered that Baby Suri was born the same day as my Sweet Babboo. I hate that. Yes, I hate it so very much!)

How weird is it that sometimes the font is super huge on my posts?? I wonder why.

Oh, and still the issues with the sidebar. I have to post, delete and then REPOST to get it to work. All hail how stupid I am.

I turn 23 years old in November. Will the King front me $17,984?

Exactly. Suri was NOT born on Babboo’s birthday, see?

I honestly cannot wait until you guys can move into your house. Something tells me that it will be super-hip and cool and I’ll want to copy all of your decorating ideas.

Yeah, pretty sure Al’s first birthday party will not be costing anywhere close to 3 grand. I would have gone just out of curiosity!

$3000 for ANY birthday is a bit much, no? Especially when THE CHILD WILL NOT REMEMBER IT!!!!!!!

Sweet Jebus, what could I do with $3K for my bday party?…How about buy lots and lots of alcohol and hold it in a fancy schmancy location and um…have a masseuse for all of my guests to take advantage of? I don’t know. It seems like a LOT. Of money.

Good luck with Babboo’s snot problems! I wouldn’t want to be in that situation either.

Is it me, or does Katie look JUST LIKE Katherine McPhee (I think that was her name) who was runner up on American Idol? I had to do a double take with that picture.

I hope Babboo feels much better soon!! Do you have one of those SnotSuckerBulbs? Jojo loathes that thing with a passion similar to his mom’s loathing of Tom Cruise saying that Katie’s name is Kate. Controlling buttmonkey.

Poor Baboo. I can’t believe how frustrating that must be. Hope he feels better soon and that you get some rest.

Poor Baboo! I can sympathize. My 3 1/2 year old Tigger still cannot blow (he sucks in) yet my 22 mo old Eeyore already blows really well. Oh well, Hollow Squirrel and Janet are right. You’ll have to suction out his nose. They hate it with all the passion of Tom Cruise hating psychology but you’ll have to do it. xoxo

I’m just waiting for someone to say the pregnancy was fake or that the aliens that Tom Cruise is fighting against came down and stole their baby or something else equally lame. We all know that something isn’t right with this whole Suri thing….

Oh, I hope Sweet Babboo feels better ASAP! And I hope tonight is better than last night. Trying to function on no sleep is not fun.

I can’t believe the amount of money people spend on birthday parties these days. I don’t care how old they are, my kids will never have get-togethers that lavish. What a warped sense of reality.

Also, I hope Babboo feels better soon!

    Poor Babboo!

We’re doing the same awful stuff — Noah also has a cold. I wind up holding him and me in strange contortions so he can breathe and eat at the same time. It sucks.

I went to a four-year-old’s birthday party at Hotel Edgewater. It was probably the most expensive birthday party I’ll ever go to, unless I make friends with Framer Jr.

Actually there are lots of things to do in Nicaragua. For example, they have some of the coolest beaches with volcanic sand. Its the weirdest and coolest thing to swim in warm ocean water that is crystal blue and walk on black volcanic sand.

Do you think that maybe Suri has something wrong with her? Maybe she was born with a birth defect that they are trying to correct? At this point its the only thing that I can come up with for way we still don’t have any pictures.

Holy crap! And I felt guilty when we spent like $300 on Seth’s first birthday (most of which was spent on food and booze.)

My family have pretty big 1st Birthday parties too. It’s a cultural thing. Whereby the infant mortality rate was low back in those days (even now in teh 3rd world) and if a kid reached his 1st birthday it was said to be plain sailing from there. So they celebrated it very big. But now mostly people have big 1st birthday parties for their first born- just for fun you know? A way for all your family and all the friends to come celebrate with you. The parties are usually held at a hall or reception venue or by the lakes or something. I think if you have the money- it’s nice. In my culture we LOVE feeding people. We love having people in our homes and cooking up a storm. So any excuse to celebrate is taken up with open arms. But there is no alcohol involved. So it’s plain ole fun.
It’s like weddings in my culture- the wedding recption is more for the enjoyment of the family and friends and the marraige is for you. It’s more about celebrating and thanking everyone for having contribted to your life and being their for this milestone.
Chinese culture has similar sentiments too.
We’ll definitely be having a big dinner party when we have our first born. It’s a given. Interesting huh?
As I was the only child- I had a huge birthday party EVERY year for 12 years and then I was too cool for birthday parties.
I had 360 guests at my wedding. It was considered “small” by my relatives.
Culture, tradition, keeping face, all that. :P

it’s more about “keeping face” than anything really.

So, did he pay him the $3000 up front? My grandmother paid her contractor $13,000 up front (who just happened to be her preacher)…and she never saw him again..literally.
