does it count as King Friday if the post doesn’t happen until this late in the day?November 3rd, 2006 @ 2:30 am
Babboo got sent home from school yesterday. He had a fever of 100.7. I left work, picked him up, took him home and proceeded to read books in an effort to find the answer to “now what?”
Oh yeah, and they also told me he wasn’t welcome back at school for 24 hours.
He’s feeling much better today. Me? Not so much. I guess germs really do exist and the fact that I’ve been this close to him for the last 24 hours doesn’t help.
The King called me from work this morning and said he figured he wouldn’t have to post today since I was home sick. I’m not sure I understand this logic. I finally received his post at 2 pm. A little late? I think so.
But we’re gonna cut him some slack since he’s probably going to be sick next. Oh, and he paid for my braces. Oh, and he’s building us a house.
—————————
thanks for all of the suggestions on places to go on vacation. they all sounded like fun, for the most part. i think we’ve settled on something easy: vancouver, canada (although hawaii may still be in the running.) its been a while since we’ve been up there together and its fast and cheap and we’ve been so many times at this point that we can either go out and goof around, or do nothing in the hotel and enjoy ourselves either way.
since several of you suggested it, it’s going to be tough to award a prize. (the prize, by the way, will be something special we pick up on our trip. it was going to be a photograph of me in a child’s size speedo, but i’ve decided to save that for another time.) so we’re going to have an elimination round. jennifer, ramblingmuse and MK are going to compete head to head to head for the top prize. (second and third prizes will be awarded.)
the winner will be the first to answer the following question: what the hell is boxing day?
(if we change our minds and go to hawaii, all participants will receive obscene bathing suit photos of the king.)

I was sure I just posted a comment but maybe I broke your comments section?
I know the answer! I know the answer! But I am not even in the running!

Boxing day is: The day after Christmas!!!
Definition acording to Google: the name given to the December 26th public holiday, which was synonymous with the boxing and exchanging of gifts that would normally occur on this day by the slaves.

Hugs to the Sweet Babboo. I hope his fever drops (but 100.7– are you sure they didn’t have the thermometer by a lamp?) and daycare welcomes him back with open arms.
Happy weekend…and happy planning of your trip to Vancouver!! Yay! I love Vancouver.

Feel better Isabel, it’s awful catching the kiddie germs. Been there, but with 25 of the darlings, AND I don’t even take any home with me.
Boxing Day is fabulous — just a more relaxed version of Christmas Day. Expensive for travelling, usually pretty dodgy for driving anywhere (here in Sydney, anyway) and lovely for sitting around eating leftovers until you explode.
Canada sounds nice, I’d love to head over there one day.

PSS….so sorry that the baby is sick! Sick babies and sick mommies are the worst! Abbie has 2 ear infections and a broken arm right now so we are feeling it! Good luck that the sickies get better and the healty stay that way.

Most importantly, Boxing Day is an additional statutory holiday over the Christmas break. I was quite disappointed after my first New Jersey Christmas to find everyone returning to work the day after Christmas. Just sad, so so sad.

Well, that’s what I get for having the day off on Friday and helping a friend move on Saturday: I miss out on everything!
I know I’m pretty late here, but it looks like I may still wrangle second place? I trust MK’s explanations of Boxing Day, but all I have to say about it is: it’s about as real a holiday as Columbus day, because I won’t be getting off of work. man, sometimes I REALLY feel like moving to canada. Like, every time I get screwed by my insurance company. And every time I learn about a cool non-American holiday.
Hope everyone’s feeling better!

Poor Babboo. Poor Isabel. I hope everyone is on the up and up soon.
Vancouver sounds loverly.
Naturally, we’ll hold it against you that you’re not coming to New York. Bah!
