Halloween

Remember how I told you I was a bad parent and didn’t dress Babboo up for Halloween. Today while downloading the latest batch of photos I found out that I did, in fact, dress him up. And by dress him up I mean I stuck a pumpkin hat and an orange shirt on him and called it good.

That totally counts, right?

He also has orange socks on. You just can’t tell by this picture.

Hooray, I’m not a bad Mom after all.

That was a close one.

—————–

I can’t remember if I’ve told you or not. But I walk a lot. I have to walk to Babboo’s school to pick him up every day and then walk home to our apartment. It takes me about an hour from door to door. It’s a very nice walk and I really do enjoy it.

But it’s long. And up hill most of the way. And I always wear high heels to work. High heels do not make for a pleasant walk when I’m pushing my 25 pound kid in a stroller and carrying my laptop on my back. (Not to mention the cooler bag for my sweet, sweet tit juice and my purse.)

I have refused to wear anything buy my regular heels to work. And I refuse to wear my tennis shoes with my work slacks. Refuse, people. So I suffer for the cause. That is until recently when a coworker suggested I not only change my shoes prior to picking up Babboo but that I also change my pants.

(Light goes off)

What a great idea. I can slip into my cozy yoga pants, put my totally comfortable tennis shoes on and enjoy my walk home. It’s like a whole new world. A world full of high kicks, comfortable strides and toes that love me for me. Now instead of huffing and puffing my way up the hills, I run up them. No need to worry about slipping on the wet cement, my shoes have traction.

This all sounds good, right? Maybe even a little too good.

I still can’t bring myself to not wear my heels on the way to the school. I wait until I get there and sneak into the back room to change my pants and shoes in the cover of darkness. I reemerge a new women. A new woman, albeit a very unstylish women. I am very underdressed along side the other working women in downtown with their high heels and short skirts. I admit it makes me very self conscious.

So if you see me walking down the streets of Seattle in my yoga pants and tennis shoes, I would ask you to look away.

Oh my goodness, Babboo looks adorable. What a beautiful son you have. Seriously. What a kissable face.

Seeing downtown business women can be very intimidating, yes. But the image of jogging through the streets of Seattle in chic yoga pants is also enviable.

I wouldn’t be embarrassed about being dressed like that - the other women probably wish they were dressed like that.

Baboo is getting so big and even cuter as he gets bigger. :)

Yeah for comfy! Isn’t it funny when you don;t think of things like that- almost liek a “duh” moment. Have you thought about wearinga comfy pair of loafers to work and then put your heals on when you get there? Then you at least wouldn’t be one of those tennis shoe wearers!!

And Babboo looks sooooooo cute!!!!!! Yes it counts! he also doens’t understand. I love that hat on him!

BY the way- what is the King bringing me back as my prize? hehehe!!

    Babboo is such a cutie!

I think I’ll try the tennis shoes stunt for the wedding I’m going to this weekend. I’ll wear them for the long walk from the parking garage and then slip into some dress shoes right before I go into the wedding. Now….do you have any ideas on a practical way to transport my extra shoes?? Should I carry a huge tote? Hide them in the bushes?? Push a stroller even though I don’t have a baby yet?

ISABEL. It has been way too long since we’ve had a Babboo picture! I thought that was a picture of the King as a baby.

It never fails to make me feel better to hear Babboo’s weight is so close to Evan’s. I think it’s a boy thing. I mean, a 12 pound 7-month-old boy would be weird, right? RIGHT??

I am completely with you. During my corporate days, I made a strong commitment to myself not to be one of those women with sneakers and hose with a pencil skirt. Needless to say, I spent a lot of money on taxicabs. So I join the chorus — yeah for comfort.

And yeah, the cutest pumpkin I’ve seen!

That is the most squishable pumpking I’ve ever seen! And look at those eyes!

And I would live in my Yoga pants, if I could. Mmm. Stretchy goodness.

I totally sport the waitress look to and from work… my work outfit with sneakers. I DON’T CARE WHAT YOU ALL SAY! I need my comfy shoes. It’s 12 blocks, and it’s a little scary. I need to be able to run for my life, if needed.

That pumpkin is so cute that it totally counts! I love the look on his face! And I never noticed until now what gorgeous eyes he has. I think he’s thinking, “Really mom? You’re embarassed to wear your comfy pants and shoes? Have you seen the hat I’m wearing?” He clearly doesn’t realize how cute he is, just like you clearly don’t realize how un-embarassed you should be in your yoga pants and tennies.

    Ahhh…what a sweet lil’ pumpkin!

Sometimes I change clothes at work before I go pick up Al so we can go straight to the park, and for some strange reason, I don’t like to go go to his school looking park-ready. I guess I’m afraid people will think I’ve been slacking all day while my poor widdle baby was left at daycare.

Don’t feel self conscious, I would do the same thing. In the name of sanity and exercise I put on my sneakers to take walks outdoors during my lunch break. Sometimes it’s not bad and other times it is so not cute, think cute shirt, cute skirt, nylons and sneakers. I wonder why I don’t get hit on?? Luckily most of the people in my building are relatively older or they are frumpy Baptists. SO when I am doing laps of the building it is not so bad. It’s when I leave the premises to walk up the street and through a neighborhood that it gets ugly.

It totally counts. My child didn’t wear PANTS on halloween so a hat is festive and totally over-achiever-ish.

I miss being able to walk to places. (I guess I CAN now but blech, the traffic joking fumes now) Yoga pants and tennis shoes! Why not wear THOSE TO WORK? Right. Gotcha. Only in my world can I wear my PJs to work. :-)

I think that counts for dressing up. For Allison’s first Halloween we stuck a clown wig on her and called it good. No make-up or clown clothes, just the wig.

If I saw you in Seattle, I would totally not pay any attention to your pants because Babboo would steal your thunder. That kid is adorable.

And I would still find you totally sexy in yoga pants and sneakers. Preserve yo feet woman!

I’m sure your feet (and hips) will thank you for the yoga emsemble.

I am very impressed that before you got your bright idea to dress down for your long walks, that you actually were able to walk that whole time in heels! Seriously, how did your feet survive this?

I work in a creative environment with very lax rules that is within a larger building with lots of other tenants. Most of them are lawyers and the like. I love stepping onto the elevator in my jeans and tennis shoes in the mornings with all of these buttoned-up professional businessmen and women. I know that deep inside they are totally wishing they could be comfortable too. I think you should walk the streets of downtown Seattle in your yoga pants with pride!
