I am very un-weridDecember 4th, 2006 @ 7:01 am
I’ve been tagged a lot this last week for the 6 Weird Things about … meme. I did that one last year while waiting to give birth. I don’t think I could come up with 6 new weird things about me. I mean, come on. I’m pretty much the least weird person out there.
You know I’m being facetious. Right?
Since I’m so un-weird, I’m going to do the latest meme going around. I was tagged by Carrisa for a Soundtrack to my Life Movie meme. I’m going to add a little bit more then just the titles.
Here’s how it works:
1. Open your library on your Zen or Ipod or other MP3 player (for me it’s the cheap ass media player that’s on my laptop. I’m totally going to get an iPod next week. I promise.)
2. Put it on shuffle.
3. Press play.
4. For every question type the song that’s playing.
5. When you go to a new question press the “next” button.

Opening Credits: Lonesome Tears - Beck
(I have loved Beck since he did Mellow Gold. He’s just so tiny and cute, I want to put him my pocket and carry him around with me all day. I saw him in concert years ago and he’s just as cute in person. I also love his name.)
Waking Up: I Love You - Sarah McLachlan
(Sarah has been a fave of mine since the 90’s. Although I don’t listen to her much anymore. Every now and again a song of hers will come up and it makes me think. She brings up lots of memories of my life with my first husband.)
Falling In Love: Walk Away - Ben Harper
(The King gave me a bunch of Ben Harper music a few years back. I’ve never sat down and listened to it in one setting. But when it does come up, I always like it. I have so much of his stuff that it comes up a lot.)
Fight Song: Think of Me - Phantom of the Opera Soundtrack
(I listened to this soundtrack over and over and over again when I was in high school. I finally saw a production of it with my family. It was like a dream come true to an 18 year old girl. Not so much of a “fight song” though.)
Breaking Up: Angelsea - Cat Stevens
(Cat Stevens is classic. Although I don’t think I’d like to break up to one of his songs.)
Making Up: Jingle Bells - Brian Setzer Orchestra
(And I know I wouldn’t want to make up to one of Brian Setzer’s songs. Especially this one. I guess it is upbeat and would provide a good beat for a make up song.)
Life’s Ok: Fur Elise - Colin Bailey (A Charlie Brown Christmas)
(Odd that I got 2 Christmas songs in a row.)
(The King admitted to me a few years ago that his “favorite” song was “Linus and Lucy” from A Charlie Brown Christmas. I went right out and bought it for him. It’s a fun soundtrack and the “Linus and Lucy” song will make you want to dance. Every time.)
Mental Breakdown: Section 12 - The Polyphonic Spree
(Um, this song is good. If I were going through a mental breakdown, I’m not sure I would want to listen to it though.)
Driving: While My Guitar Gently Weeps - The Beatles
(I’m glad a Beatles song came up, since they are my faves and it wouldn’t be a movie of my life without a song by them. This song though, is one of my least favorites of theirs. Wouldn’t it have been funny if “Drive my Car” came up for this song?)
Flashbacks: The Coast - Paul Simon
(Again, so glad a Paul Simon song came up. I have had a love affair with Paul Simon since I first heard “Diamonds on the Soles of my Shoes” at my Aunt’s house when I was in Junior High. I had never heard of him or Simon and Garfunkle before that. I saw them in concert a few years ago. I sat all by myself and cried while I sang along to the songs in my head. I’m not too embarrassed to admit it.)
Happy Dance: Poses - Rufus Wainwright
(Have you ever listened to Rufus? Because you should. Even though he’s gay, and I’m married, I like to pretend that he’s singing to only me. He has a magical voice. He also always sounds so forlorn and it makes me want to snuggle him and make it all better.)
Regret: Into the Dark - Ben Lee
(Ben Lee has cute curls. And a hott Australian accent. And while this isn’t one of my favorite of his songs, he’s still dreamy to listen to.)
Final Battle: Girl - Rhett Miller
(Not really a “battle” song, but it’s a damned good thing that a Rhett Miller song came up in my shuffle. And this song is a cover of a Beatles song. I think it’s a sign that Rhett is almost ready to leave his wife for me. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; you have to check out Rhett Miller. His music is awesome. And after you fall in love with his voice, and his songs, you will see a picture of him and watch him live and then fall in love with him. I kid you not.)
Death Scene: The New Kid - Old 97’s
(What are the odd that an Old 97’s song came up after a Rhett Miller song? I didn’t plan this. I promise. So Rhett is the lead singer for the Old 97’s. The Old 97’s are my favorite, favorite band. I assure you that if you give them a chance, you’re gonna love them. And to those lucky people that are getting a copy of my Cheesy Love Songs CD there are many Old 97’s songs on it. They are neither cheesy or love songs. Mostly they are about sex. Rhett writes nice songs about sex.)
Final Credits: The Denial Twist - The White Stripes
(A perfect closing song for me. My cousin looks like Jack White. And I think that’s odd. I just wanted to share that with you.)
I’m not going to tag anyone by name. But feel free to do it if you want. Music is fun. And it’s fun to be introduced to new artists, so let me know if you do this one.

Girlfriend! I listened to the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack in high school too… like so much that I drove everyone around me crazy. I wanted to be Christine. And not to brag, but you should hear me sing this song. You would weep and your heart would burst open and you would want to run down the beach with me and be BFF’s… just sayin’.
Oh and I too love me some Sarah M.

Sarah M. makes me cry in the car sometimes. I usually dont’ tell people I’m into her because I think it seals my deal as a crazy, Lilith fair loving, tree-hugging, stray-cat saving hippie type, so don’t tell anyone!

I like the idea of this meme. I have a bunch of things to post about this week, but I’m adding this to the list.
I love Sarah McLachlan’s Fumbling Towards Ecstasy. I was in high school when I heard “Good Enough” for the first time. Thus began the angst.
Also, I’m listening to A Charlie Brown Christmas right now. It’s been on repeat in my CD player all. damn. day.

I fear my playlist would be embarrassingly boring. And my mp3 player’s playlist was removed by my husband to make room for his…and he hasn’t reloaded my songs! I’m lame. Sorry.
