The icing on the cake
Posted by Isabel on December 5th, 2006. Filed under: Random.I’m ready to join the in-crowd.
I’m getting an iPod.
I’m getting the huge one that plays video. I think it’s like 287 gig. Or something. And I’m getting the black one. And I’m getting my named engraved on it.
(Is it odd that I LOVE my name on things? I write my name on everything. Everything.)
I’m using the referral bonus I’m getting for referring Jessica for a job with my company. I was happy to help her get the job. I mean, she was moving across the country-I wanted to help in anyway that I could. This poor lady has been through enough already. Me getting a little bonus is just the icing on the cake.
Anyway, back to the new iPod.
Yesterday I e-mailed The King and told him that I’m going to get really into this new iPod craze. I’m going to watch videos and listen to podcasts. It’s going to be my new lovah.
That’s when he e-mailed me and referred to said iPod as “our family’s new iPod”.
Slow down there buddy.
This will not belong to the family. It will be mine. All mine.
This coming from a guy who’s on his third iPod. Or maybe his fourth. He eats iPods for supper.
And he also doesn’t share them with his lovely bride. I’ve only used the darned thing four times. Maybe five. And only because I snuck into his bag and got it out. After which, he found out and wasn’t too happy about it.
I’m hoping that my folks and The King’s folks load up my stocking this year with iTunes gift certificates so that I can download episode after episode of Veronica Mars and check in with Barney. Not to mention all the This American Life podcasts I can handle.
I can feel my life about to get better. And I like it.
(Also, is it totally nerdy for me to get my name engraved on it? Really? Because I don’t see it that way, but The King is making fun of it.)

Luke’s a little possessive of his iPod, too. He also suggests all the time that I get my own iTunes account. I don’t think he likes my cheesy love songs taking up his memory.
I didn’t know you could have your name engraved on an iPod. You might start a new trend!

Congrats on the Podening. I love mine. Its a beautiful thing.

That’s exactly how I felt when we got our Tivo. I could feel my life getting better when we brought it through the door.
I don’t think it’s weird to get your name engraved on it. I love monogrammed stuff… it’s cute.

Nooo, I think it’s very personalised and hey – at least it will make it more “yours” if you know what I mean! I have a 4gig nano, and have trouble filling it with just music, and I do have a crapload of songs on it.
Ipods are love!

If I could have my own special “engraving machine” I would. I love engraving or marking everything I have with my name. I once heard Reese Witherspoon say that “monograming everything was a Southern Belle kinda of thing” – well, I’m not a Southern Belle but I like to think of myself as delicate and sweet so I’ll say its a Northern Belle kinda of thing. You can say its a Pacific Coast Belle kinda of thing. Whatever you call it, engrave your little heart out!

I love that you are getting an ipod! Good for you! And tell the King to read the name on it! It is YOURS!

I could not live without my ipod mini. Check out http://www.audible.com for very affordable audio books. They have tons of stuff and you get to download any two books a month for twenty dollars.

Justin and I have a small (ish) obsession with Barney. I loved you before but now I love you even more knowing that you watch that show. Not many people here do.
And the IPod thing? I’ll get one in 2042. Hell…..I just switched from cassettes to CD’s.

Congrats on your new baby (ipod)! and NO it is not lame to get engraving and yay for free T.A.L. podcasts! (My ipod is out of batteries right now. Maybe I should go plug it in so I can actually enjoy it?)

It’s a little bit odd to get your name engraved on it, but since you are getting the holy grail of Ipods there… better safe than sorry.
And yes you should tell The King to back off. That ipod is all yours baby.
I got my mom a shuffle for christmas. She will be so happy. Problem is, she has no computer. So this is actually going to be more work for me… oh well.

How amazement! I referred someone at work and got a referral fee and won a 30 gig video IPod! I love it! Please don’t feel jealous as I got Aussie $$ and they are worth WAY less than yours!
You will love, love, love it! Make sure you put some Travis on there, excellent walking/thinking music!
Yay, I am so happy for you!

While I have never seen an engraved ipod, I know it’s possible, and everyone I know that’s ordered online has gotten theirs engraved. I think it’s a common thing, as in, not weird at all!

I am a tad behind the technology curve these days, with an ipod nowhere near in-sight. Being as how I’m with kids 98% of the time that need me to, um, hear them (ha!) I suppose it’s ok for now.
Tell The King to keep his mitts off. “Family’s new iPod” cracked me up. I suppose you have to give him points for trying… ;o)

I think the King is only giving you a hard time about your name engraving because he’s so stinkin’ jealous of it. I bet his ipod doesn’t have his name on it, and he secretly wishes it does.

Yay for mp3 players!
I’ve got one but don’t use it very often.
I’m just about to leave the house to buy one for this poor guy in India who is a brilliant marine scientist but only earns $30 a month. Non Apple mp3 players…the non-brand ones from China are so cheap these days…the one I’m getting for him if Aus$25 and holds 1Gig!
Anyway, I’m jealous that u are getting one that plays video! That’s super special..and I want one!!!!!

I’m so totally jealous! I love my mp3 player and I’m just dying for one of the super video models! Congrats!

Hey, can you also refer me for a job with your company? Pretty please!

FYI, I’m teasing. I love my job. I just wish I worked with you. What FUN!
