Death Cab for babies that won’t sleep at night
Posted by Isabel on December 6th, 2006. Filed under: Apartment Living, Random. We have tickets to see Death Cab for Cutie this Saturday night. The King bought us tickets forever ago and then forgot to tell me that he had even bought the tickets until last month. After which he said that he bought them with the intent of selling them. And then we forgot about even selling them.
Yesterday he told me that he wished more hola, isabel readers lived in the Seattle area so that he could give them away as this week’s King Friday prize. Give them away? Those are expensive tickets. You can’t just give them away.
As much as I don’t even want to think about finding someone to watch my Sweet Babboo, I would like to rock the house out at a fun show. I’m sure Death Cab would be fun. They’re hip. They’re young. They’re cute. I mean it says so right in their name.
We haven’t been to a concert since the magical concert weekend right before I had Babboo. Concerts are fun. Concerts remind me that I was young once. Concerts are an adventure. Concerts allow you to put regular clothes on and hold your husbands hand while listening to good music.
Concerts also make me feel old. I’m reminded that I can’t stay up as late. And since I’m so tired, I can’t rock the house like I once could. Plus there’s the whole “my boobs will hurt if I go too long without breastfeeding and I refuse to pump anymore” syndrome. Then there’s parking and paying for food at the venue. Plus trying to not stick out like some idiotic 30+ loser trying to act like they’re still young enough to belong there.
I guess there are a few things I need to do before Saturday:
1- decide if we are going to the concert.
2- if we go, find someone to watch Babboo. (sort of last minute. Crap.)
3- if we go, pick out an outfit that will be hip, yet not too hip.
4- if we don’t go, try to sell the tickets before Saturday.
5- which means I’d have to deal with craigslist.
6- and maybe listen to the Death Cab songs I own. You know, so I can sing along.
6- which is always cool.
(I just received word from The King. My new black iPod has been ordered and will arrive Wednesday next week. My name will be engraved on it.)
What is the point of this post? I just wanted to talk about something positive that we’ve got going on right now instead of bitching about how Babboo has decided that he no longer wants to sleep at night. Instead he wants to scream.
I’m so ready to have our new house done so that we won’t have to live in this one bedroom apartment any longer.
(Um, so The King reminded me last night that the new house will have four bathrooms in it. Which means that this time next year instead of bitching about our one bedroom apartment I’ll be bitching about having to clean FOUR BATHROOMS. Crap!)

When is your new house supposed to be done? I remember you once said that the King thought it would be done by Christmas, but you were doubtful. And what will you do with all of those bathrooms? I only have two bathrooms, and when I’m in the kitchen (which is equally spaced between both bathrooms), and I have the urge to go potty, I can’t decide… should I go to the bathroom upstairs or downstairs…. I can’t imagine having to choose between four bathrooms. Oh my!!!

Hm…while Evan isn’t screaming all night, he is certainly waking up more. I have been blaming it on the teething. However…sounds like they are playing jedi mind tricks on us again.

I say you should go to the concert, and start looking for a babysitter now. It will be fun, I promise!

Don’t worry, you won’t have to clean all 4 bathrooms. I’m sure you’ll use one or two primarily, and the others will stay pretty clean on their own. We only have 2 bathrooms, but we use the one next the bedroom 90% of the time. Lazy, that’s what we are.

Oh, find a baby sitter and enjoy your night out.
Sorry that your little guy isn’t sleeping through the night. That completely sucks. Have you tried giving him some hard liquor before bed?

oh my I have nooooooo idea why your wordpress is being funny. Your blog looks fine to me, though? Is it just the inner pages (like where you write the post?) Bizarre.
I so so so wish I lived in Seattle and could babysit Babboo!! I would sign up this instant. Stupid 3,000 mile difference we have.
I can’t wait until your house is done. I am also so sick of living in a 1 BR apt, but my husby is not building me a house anytime soon. Darn.

4 bathrooms! Wow, I just moved to an apartment with 2 and I am so excited. I have only had 1 for about 5 years. You don’t have to clean all 4, just the one’s that company’s gonna use, lol.

My wife and I went to see Death Cab in Denver a couple of years ago. It was a great show until my coworker’s 16 year old son walked up and said “What ae you doing here?” There were actually quite a few 30ish types there.

DCFC! They rock. I would totally watch Babboo so you could go out without any worries, but um, I’m a total stranger and live nowhere near you. Anyway! I think you guys should go and have fun! Now get on it – go find a sitter!!!!
I would so love a brand new house. Four bathrooms are nice, very nice.

If I lived in Seattle, I’d totally watch Babboo for you.
You should totally go to the concert. I think it would be nice for you and The King to get out just the two of you.
So how much longer til the house is done? My boyfriend just got a one bedroom apartment, and I know it must be hard on you guys, because in his apartment it’s him, his dog Riley, and Zachary on the weekends, and I’m there a lot of the time, and that feels crowded at times… but having a baby, being married and living in a tiny one bedroom would be hard. Especially when you lived in a bigger space before.

Oh man, I would totally buy the tickets from you, but I’m going to be in NY. BOO

Sorry about the screaming. I think you need a break. You should definitely go to the concert. It would be fun!

I have those very same warm memories of movie theaters. Just when KJ grew old enough to sit through movies (be they animated movies, but it still counts as having somewhat of a life and going out on a Friday evening, no? maybe?) and now there is 11 month old Jack, who would be climbing my head and scaling the walls if forced to sit through widescreen child entertainment.
Someday I will get back to working on that night life. The idea of a concert blows my mind. Go! I’ll be living vicariously through you.

If I was in Seattle, I’d totally try to win those tickets. It’s been so long since I’ve been to a concert

You could also sell them on ebay. We just sold some concert tickets that way this week.
I am so sorry about teh speepless nights. they are no fun. Abbie went through her stages, but thank god she snapped out of it.
