Serenity now!
December 13th, 2006 @ 7:01 am

The new iPod has taken over my life. And get this, I still haven’t taken it out of the box.

So what am I doing? I’m busy converting all of my .wma files into .mp3 files. This wouldn’t be such a drag, except that my laptop’s hard drive is FULL and so I have to pull a file into iTunes and then delete the original .wma file.

So exciting.

(And by “exciting” I really mean “not exciting at all”.)

I’m basically ready to poke my eyes out with all the extra pens sitting on my desk.

Serenity now!!

I think that instead of Apple charing for iPods, they should be paying me for doing all this work myself. And since my laptop is so full, it’s running extra slow and making my real work that they do pay me to do take a very long time.

And to make matters even more buggy, The King recently started calling my Sweet Babboo “Doug”. It’s killing me. And not in a good way.

Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with the name Doug. But it isn’t Babboo’s name. Not even close. (Okay, they both have a “U” in them. But that’s it.) I asked The King if he didn’t like Babboo’s name. He said he did like it, he just thought Doug sounded funny.

I don’t think it’s funny at all.

Which makes The King think it’s even funnier.

GAH!

He’ll think funny when I forget to make it to our scheduled “nooner” tomorrow.

My brother is named after my father, George, but my mom’s called him Fred since he was a toddler. He’s in his first year of college now. An unusual term of endearment, but it’s still very cute.

Although if The King has to choose between Babboo’s nickname and the nooner, I bet he picks the nooner.

Doug was the name I was going to get called if I were a boy… and since I let ‘em down in that respect, the name was given to the next family member - the dog.

So whenever I hear the word Doug, I think of dogs. (DugDog is an interesting puppy name, eh?)

My husband calls my son Mason “Randy” because he too thinks it’s funny. Whatever! Oh, and you go with the nooners! Naughty girl, you.

Joel calls both the cats Daryl, which has no inside joke meaning and is not any derivitive of either of their names. He just thinks it’s hysterical to call them Daryl. I don’t get it. But since they don’t know the difference, I just let it go. Daryl? Doug? What???

I think I’m the last person on the planet who doesn’t have an iPod… but I’m just as happy with my Dell Jukebox.

Hahaha! I’ve never heard of a “nooner” before, haha. I only knew it as “afternoon delight”. Then again, Anchorman is my favorite movie.

Dude, you have a SCHEDULED nooner? Is this a regular thing or something special?
I pry. And I’m green with hormonal envy.
Because I? Need to get my mojo back. Apparently when I gave birth, I also gave away my mojo. Or any inkling of my mojo.
    Bah.
By noon? I’m ready for a NAP!

I’m with Lizzy on the mojo deficiency. Maybe Santa can bring me mine back. The gift that keeps on giving.

Once again, The King and my hubby have something in common. You finding it NOT funny makes it even “funnier” to him. My hubby is the same way.

I love my iPod and am hoping to get some awesome little gadgets that make it even awesomer for Christmas.

Oh my gosh. I could just die from laughter right now! my pal Amy had a nooner today, and her husband said, “thanks for the nooner!” and she asked, “what’s a nooner?” and he replied, “ask your friend GFF, she’ll know.” Of course I knew, but what the heck, he thinks I’m some kind of maniac or something! And here I come over to read your blog and you’re talking about nooners.

Sounds like you need to step away from the iPod for a minute. It shouldn’t stress you out that much!

Also, the nooner line made me laugh, mostly because my husband has a thing against scheduling intimacy, and we were watching a movie recently where an old married couple were talking about doing it, and the wife said, “But it’s not even Saturday!” which made it special. Okay, maybe this is funny only to me, but I’m laughing a lot.

[...] I do the walk home with Babboo after school. I spend that time listening to my iPod and catching up on all of my podcasts, while Babboo just sits there in his stroller. He could be talking, or singing. But I can’t hear him over the sound of Ira’s voice. He never seems to mind. [...]
