A simple lesson in shapes
Posted by Isabel on January 29th, 2007. Filed under: They're just my family. My sister (who I love with all of my heart) and her husband (who I also love) are looking for a new apartment to rent. They both recently got new jobs and are anxious to find a place closer to their jobs. They’ve been looking at a ton of different apartments trying to find just the right one.
My sister called me on Friday night to tell me they found it and are just waiting to hear if their application is approved.
Isabel: So what’s it like?
Sister: It has a separate dining room!
Isabel: That’s nice. You’ll be able to use your kitchen table again.
Sister: It has a huge living room!!
Isabel: That will be good, since your current living room in tiny.
Sister: They accept pets!
Isabel: Hooray, now you won’t have to hide the fact that you have a cat.
Sister: The best part is that it has its own storage unit!!!
Isabel: That is great. You can keep all of your Christmas decorations and junk in it.
Sister: Yea, the storage unit is the perfect size. It’s shaped like a long square!
Isabel: Um..you mean a rectangle?!
Sister: Shut up. It’s been a long day.

That is priceless! It’s like when Edgar and I were watching the SAG awards last night and I said, “That’s why they aren’t showing a new Desperate Housewives…because the housewives are at the awards.”

I’d take a storage unit in any size! Long square, short square, retarded triangle… I’d love them all.

Haha, that is SO funny! Honestly, I don’t have ANY room to talk. I’ve said some pretty dumb things, by just not thinking.
Shaun’s favorite one that he still tells people is this time we were picking my mom up from work. A blind guy walked out of the building and I said to Shaun, “Do you think they give blind people handicap parking? They should because it must be hard for them to find their car, being blind and all.” I hadn’t realized what I had actually just said at first, but when Shaun started laughing hysterically, I realized how stupid I just sounded.

It sounds like she was just trying to make her storage unit sound special… as if it is the only storage unit of it’s kind… because long square storage units are rare.

[...] They’ve been looking for a new apartment for few months and recently found the perfect one (it even has a storage unit). They were just waiting to see if there was an opening. They got the call last week that they could move into their new place in March. When my sister called their current property managers to give them their 30-day notice they were told that they would still have to pay rent for all of March. I wasn’t really sure how that worked out and my sister wasn’t either. She read through their contract and still wasn’t sure what the deal was. But dang it, they weren’t going to pay rent on a place they weren’t even living in. [...]
