Things on my mind todayMarch 26th, 2007 @ 7:01 am
- Since we don’t have a grocery store to go to in downtown Seattle, I’ve been ordering our groceries online. This works great. Except for last week when I ordered enough groceries to make 4 different dinners for us. One ingredient for each of the dinners didn’t come. So I have a yummy spaghetti recipe to make, but no speghetti. And a tomato risotto, but no tomatoes. And what’s the point of a calzone if you don’t have olives?!
- I went to a baby shower on Saturday for a friend who is having her 3rd baby girl. I bought the baby lots of black shirts in all different sizes. Screw pink, a girl needs some black in her life. My best friend May made some awesome Battlestar Galactica onesies for her. Something about Save the Cylones. I don’t watch the show, but the mom loves the onesies. I may have heard mention of “baby best shower gift ever!”
- The King and I had our first night away from our Sweet Babboo on Friday night. More about that over at my other blog.
- I found a really creepy card at Hallmark last week. It said something like “I miss you so much. Please mail me a lock of your hair”. Then you open it and it said, “with your head attached”. Of course I bought it and mailed it to a friend that’s going through a really tough time right now. She thought it was equally creepy. I hope she understood it was a joke. If not, maybe we shouldn’t be friends.
- I have recently realized that Babboo has never played in grass. In fact, I’m not sure that he’s been within 5 feet of grass. This is urban living at its best. Maybe (when it stops raining) we’ll take the kid over to a park. Or just a friends house. I feel a little guilty about this. And I’m not sure why.
- I am sick of the rain. I am ready to see the sun.
- The King and I are trying to get some vacations for the year planned out. We want to go to a beach, but aren’t sure about taking the baby there. We can handle the heat. But can he?? Is there a cool beach area in America that we should look into, like North Carolina or Florida? Or should we just go to Mexico? Or Vegas?
- I will stop with the bullets already.

“cool” like “awesome!” or cool like not too hot so the baby can play?
For little ones, the Gulf is really great because the waves aren’t too much and the water is very temperate. The Pacific is a little more rough and tumble if you want to actually get in.

That totally sounds like a card I would buy. Don’t you think it would be so weird feeling grass for the first time? Annnd….my prom post will be this week. I gotta get a couple pics from the folks house, but Whitney (www.quipwhit.com) has hers up already and I make an appearance!

The card? Yeah, that is creepy, but might make me laugh. I do not like rain either, a storm here and there, yeah, but rain, rain, rain, nope!
Last night, we went out to my sister-in-law’s house and I put Alyssa in the grass and, um, she didn’t know what to think about it. I’m not sure she has played in it either, lol.

That Hallmark card sounds awesome! I hope I receive it! If not, I’ll just send you my head anyway.
Have you heard of that awesome beach in upstate NY? Totally family-friendly. Call now! 1-800-SQUIRREL (the L is superfluous…just for the looks). CALL NOW HURRY ROOMS ARE LIMITED.
It’s probably for the best that Babboo hasn’t felt grass yet, because he’s passing the stage of trying to eat it. Jojo tore up much of our front yard (and tried to eat it), but this summer I hope instead just to prevent him from running in the street. I’m going to be in great shape though… We have grass, too, up year in NY…lots of it. All Babboo friendly.
And wha? You have another blog? I can’t wait to check it out…

I was born in Hong Kong and lived there for a little over the first year of my life. My parents brought me back to Memphis (my Mom & Dad lived there for business) and when the set me down in the grass - I freaked out. Apparently, I had bever seen it before. I got over it, although I am still not what you would call an outdoorsy girl. Mom says I wouldn’t walk on it or touch it for awhile, though.

First, OMG the Battlestar Galactica babythings!!!! I so need those!! Can you hook me up with your friend?! And black little girl clothes, too. Where’d you find those?
Oh, and I’m suddenly feeling a little guilty. I’ve not really let Baby Beth play in grass, either. Matthew finally did on Saturday, and it was right before we were to have a bunch of company, and I fussed at him for letting her get dirty. Yeah, I regret that.

I want to try the online~grocery~shopping thing so bad! I think it would be awesome to just place your order and then go and pick it up in a few hours. Awesome.
I wish I could plan vacations every year… I wish I GOT vacations every year. The last vacation I went on was 2 and 1/2 years ago with Shaun. That’s why I’m really excited we’re going on vacation very soon! Yay! We both need it!

Both cool in the hip sense and cooler in the temperature sense: Cape Cod. I grew up with summers on The Cape and I can’t wait to take Henry. Although, oddly, my favorite time is early winter in Provincetown.
But The Cape offers a lot for the whole family–and cooler than the southern states.

You should go to Myrtle Beach in SC, and Cody and I will invite ourselves to meet you there (that’s what this is all about, right? Seeing which readers will invite themselves on your vacation?) Cody lived in South Carolina for two years, and he needs to take me there.
Or you can always be boring and go to Costa Maya, Mexico where the ocean is lovely and the locals are totally willing to share their pot with you. Cody and I got lost there once! And we ate in a “restaurant” that was really someone’s house and they left bottle of mayo sitting on the table. We were like, “Dudes! Did you know you’re supposed to refigerate this stuff?” and they were like, “Yeah… like we have refrigerators!” and we were like, “Oh crap! Why are we eating your talapia tacos then?” and we all had the poops for three weeks after that. But don’t worry! Those tacos are so good that they’re worth the three weeks of toilet occupation.
Was that too long winded??? Please forgive me!

I could jump on board the BG fan bandwagon if they would just stop saying “frack”. Seriously… every time they say that (400 times per show, approx) I want to throw something at the TV. Which is sad, because it’s got such great plot and characters otherwise. (Joel got me into it… I am not a big scifi fan normally!)

What’s with people having baby showers after the first baby? Especially when it’s the 3rd girl?!
Baby showers after the 1st one is just a present grabbing exercise. If people want to give the new baby a present, they will anyway. It’s just all a bit silly. hahaha

I can’t believe no one has mentioned the Outer Banx in NC! I also can’t believe you might come to the East Coast!! OBX is pretty laid back and quiet. Panama City Beach in Florida is really nice, and they have an awesome water park (I’m not a huge beach fan). I would recommend Key West, but the actual beaches suck.

Luke and I are figuring out vacation plans, too. So far the contenders are Florida and Delaware. Have you ever been to Delaware? It sounds very sophisticated. Not as chic as Connecticut or Vermont, but it’ll do.
Also, I love that you order your groceries online. So hip!
