The Good Ole DaysMay 3rd, 2007 @ 5:01 am
You know how when your hair is just buggin you and you hate the way you styled it and you just feel not-right all day?
And you know how when you wear the wrong slacks and how you don’t feel like leaving your cubicle until the day is over (or you need to get your lunch) (or you have to take a potty break)?
And you know how when you get something stuck in your eye and there is no peace until you get the damn thing out?
Right, welcome to my day.
The hair and the slacks I can blame on myself. But the eye issues I have to blame on the cat. Yes, it’s Preston’s fault that there is something in my eye.
For I’m pretty sure it’s some of his damn fur.
What in the crap where we thinking when we bought such a furry orange kitty almost 7 years ago? I’ll tell you what we were thinking. We were thinking how adorable he was.

I would never have looked at that little kitten and thought he would grow up to produce so much fur. Fur, that for some reason, refuses to stay attached to his body. Fur, that for some reason, loves to attach itself to my black slacks.
Or get stuck in my eye.
I get frustrated with Preston a lot. Mostly it’s because of the fur issues. Our apartment and everything we own is covered with a thinly glazed haze of orange. It’s not his fault he sheds like a maniac. But it is his fault that he won’t let us comb him, or even take him to the groomer to be combed.
I try to remember the good ole days.

And let’s be honest, Preston probably tries to remember the good ole days also. Days where we would order him his own burrito with green sauce (oh he loves the green sauce).
Yes, gone are those days. Instead of sitting with us at the table and eating like a normal family, we just let the baby eat right out of Preston’s bowl.

On the plus side, I hear the crunchy kibble is good for teething.

I want to reach back in time and into your photos and steal that kitten! He is painfully, adorably cute!

Oh my, he was just adorable… like a little LION.
Or like a cat version of a pomeranian!
And no worries about Babboo eating cat food, I used to eat dog biscuits and dog chocolates. Yum

He really was one adorable cat. But even back then he looked like a shedder!
I always thought we’d have a pet before we had kids, so the baby could grow up loving animals, but since we’re in an apartment and the complex requires a $200 non-refundable fee just for having an animal, we’re holding off until we’re in a house. Hopefully the lack of a pet won’t cause our child to be afraid of them!

Aw, little baby Preston!! He looks like a little ewok! He’s unbelievably adorable.
I am going out of my mind with cat hair lately. I guess I didn’t realize how lucky I was, Madison doesn’t really shed and Max BEGS for a brushing every night, so his hair ends up in the brush and in the garbage. Henry… sheds like a maniac. Hates being brushed. HAIR IS EVERYWHERE.
Back in the good old days, I didn’t realize how good I had it. And I also fit in my skinny jeans.

I love cats…yours is adorable! But, we had to get rid of our long haired cat when my oldest was born as she ended up being allergic. So we gave her to a good home WHO ENDED UP SHAVING HER HAIR. But supposedly the cat is happy.

What a cute puff-ball!! Goodness! I am actually allergic to cats, but I still can’t resist them when they’re kittens. Who doesn’t like kittens?

I used to eat dog food. In 4th grade. For fun. And I turned out just fine.

My nephew eats WET catfood from his cat’s bowl. It did make him throw up once or twice, but he’s fairly normal despite all this.
And let me tell you- short hair cats are no better with the shedding! Little. tiny. hairs. all over my pants. All over the sofa. EVERYWHERE! Oh my Lord. I thought I’d learned from my parents’ mistakes with their puffball Hariette. Nope! Sam and Sophia shed just as much, if not more. I’m catching what you’re throwing, Isabel

I don’t even like cats and I would have wanted to take that kitten home. Those big kitten eyes are soooo irresistable!
When we got our dog, we researched the breed and learned that eskimos drop their coat once a year. So, we figured — no problem. He’ll shed like crazy for a couple of weeks, but it’s just once a year, so that’s not so bad! Ummm…not so much. Apparently the “once a year” begins around January 1st and continues until December 31. Some days, when I’m lint-rolling my pants for the 5th time, I wonder why I even bother with black clothes anymore. And despite vacuuming once-a-week(ish), there’s almost always a fine layer of white covering our house. But, on the bright side, he does let us brush him, and he is adorable enough to make it worth all the hair.

Sorry about the eye!
Abbie is facinated with the dog food and bowls.

What the hell do they put in the cat food that makes the babies want to eat it? As soon as the gate to the kitchen is moved, she makes a beeline for the freakin catfood!
I love my cat, but I hate it when he sheds!

Oh my goodness, that cat is adorable! And I really don’t like cats!
I know how you feel about the fur, but in my house, it’s all because of the dogs. ALL THREE OF THEM.

If he wasn’t so cute, I’d say you should shave him. The cat, not the baby.

Preston was ABSOLUTELY adorable as a kitten. I see why you fell in love.
I too find myself cursing all the fur we have. Of course we have three cats instead of one and two dogs to go along with it so fur is inevitable.
Oh and about the cat food, I ate cat food when I was little and it didn’t hurt me. (At least not too badly….)

I hate cats and yet, Preston was the most adorable kitten ever. What were you thinking? How could you not take him home. He’s so cute!
