My Hometown

My Seattle, WA
Age: 31 (just a few more days)
Occupation: Construction Management
I lived there for: 7 years
I lived there because: My husband is from the suburbs of Seattle and would die before he moved away. Plus, I like it here.
My neighborhood: Downtown, right in the heart of it.
My favorite restaurant: Tutta Bella Pizza
If you go to this restaurant, be sure to order: Their pizza salad is to die for.
My favorite museum: SAM, which just reopened this last weekend. I can’t wait to go and check it out. The additions are supposed to be amazing.
My favorite tourist destination: I never tire of the Space Needle.
Best insider spot: Capitol Hill, it’s the best place to people watch and a fun place to shop and eat.
My favorite area: Georgetown, where walking around makes me feel like I’m in NYC. If only for a minute…
Best place to go shopping: Downtown has the best shops. Every thing from a 3 story Old Navy to Tiffany and Nordstrom.
When you visit, don’t forget to pack: A light rain jacket. You never know what’s in store.
The one local cuisine you should try when you’re in town is: Salmon chowder from Ivar’s Chowder House located down by the water.
The best way to get around: Walking and more walking, although the Metro buses are free inside of downtown.
If I had to describe this city in one word, it would be: Clean
I tell my friends to stay at: The Ace Hotel, where I’ve never stayed, but am dying to.
The one thing most outsiders don’t know about this city is: The sun stays out until 10:00 pm in the summer! It makes up for all the rain in the winter months.
They say “Virginia is for lovers.” So fill in the blank: Seattle is for concert-goers. (There is always a great show to see at any number of venues.)

very cool! This will come in handy for my next Seattle trip, which better be soon or I might just explode! Pizza salad has me intrigued…
One of the things I left off my list (under “don’t forget to pack”) was
“But leave room in your suitcase for: __________”
because there is nothing I could think of buying in DC! Sad, huh? But in Seattle I think I’d have to say something artisan from Pike Place Market?

Would it be redundant if I did this, too? :p Maybe it would but I think I will anyway!
Oh, and I have stayed at the Ace Hotel — SO COOL! We stayed there on our anniversary two years ago when we were visiting from Maine. It was fantastic!

What a neat post idea! brings back fond memories of when I visited Seattle back in 1996 I think it was. Don’t forget, you can easily get to Victoria, Canada from there and have tea at the Empress Hotel!

Aww, what a sweet tribute to Seattle. When I think of it, I just think, TRAFFIC! TRAFFIC! TRAFFIC! I might be a little small-minded.

Does Mt. Rainier count as a tourist attraction for Seattle or is it more of a Washington attraction? For me, it is my favorite place to visit in “Seattle”. And speaking of those sunny days…today it is simply superb outside.

We have a Capitol Hill and Georgetown as well. My favorite spots of course.
Also your BBF, Hollow Squirrel, is going to be my new BBF in about a week. Just thought I’d prepare you for that one.

Ever since Singles came out in the nineties, I’ve wanted to visit Seattle. It sounds so freaking hip!

Man, we were just in Seattle a couple months ago (before I found your blog) and didn’t do most of the things you mention! Of course we did the Space Needle. We LOVED Seattle and were (maybe still) thinking of moving to the area after that visit. I can’t wait until the next visit to try the places you suggest!

I’m intrigued by the Pizza salad. I need to make a trip out there…it’s on my list of places I want to visit! I played along…maybe you’ll try some of my fav’s when you come to the midwest for Blogher!

Seriously? I knew Seattle had a Capitol Hill, but Georgetown too? And it’s in “Washington” – could that be any more confusing? Is there a Union Station too?

I totally forgot to tell you I did this, haha! But I did.
