Monday Bullets
Posted by Isabel on August 27th, 2007. Filed under: Bullet points are your friend. It’s the last Monday before we head off on our Summer Vacation to DC/NYC. Which means this week is going to be crazy. The King and I both sort of didn’t realize we were leaving this Saturday.
So um yeah, we aren’t as prepared as we should be for this trip.
Which means today’s post is all about The Bullets. Enjoy.
- The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is pee. I have to pee. Babboo is the same way. The King on the other hand didn’t pee on Sunday morning until 2 hours after he’d got out of bed. Two hours! That is insane.
- I talked to my little sister this weekend about the iron-on’s I made for my brother’s new baby. She admitted that she didn’t get the Little House one. And then she said, “I think I told you wrong. Our sister-in-law is into Anne of Green Gables, not Little House.” Yeah, not the same thing. Damn it..
- So totally randomly my little sister will be in DC on business the same time we’ll be there. This is so random. I mean, really, it’s crazy how random this is. I keep trying to come up with a time that we can get together with her. Even if just for lunch, or something. But she’s all “I’m too busy”. Whatever, jerk.
- I haven’t been able to bring myself to read the final installment of Frema’s online teenage soap opera Tragic Love Friday. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you should check it out. Seriously.
- We bought a new umbrella stroller this weekend for the upcoming trip. Babboo and I took it out on Saturday for a test drive. He loves it.
- I posted my latest New Thing today. You should totally go and read all about it and then leave me a comment so I feel special.
- The past two mornings on my way to work I’ve walked past a news camera crew. They’ve looked right past me and asked the person behind me for an on camera interview. I have no idea what they are interviewing them about. But I’m still a little upset that they aren’t asking me.
- Jihan is coming over to my pad tomorrow night so I can help her move her blog over to a self-hosted site. Wish us luck. I mean it, wish us luck.
- I invited four different friends (that have kids Babboo’s age) to meet Babboo and I at the Pacific Science Center last weekend. All four of them turned me down. May would’ve gone with me if she hadn’t packed up and moved to Reno!
- Things I have to do this week include getting a hair cut, grocery shopping, eating all the groceries before we leave, finding someone to come and scoop out our cat box while we’re gone, wax, doctor appointment for Babboo, laundry, painting our new house, finding rides to and from the airport. Oh, and packing for the trip. Kill me now.
So tell me, what do you have going on this week??

I’ll be sitting here in NYC. Hey wait a minute…
August 27th, 2007 at 3:44 pm
Last week was insane for me, what with getting ready for my first night of teaching. This week, though, should be better. I cleaned last night, and mailed bills this morning, so I should be able to update my blogs and prepare for class without pulling my hair out.
Luke and I have a busy weekend planned, too: We’re going to check out National Geographic’s Real Pirates exhibit currently on display in Cincinnati. Then we’re visiting friends in Lexington, Kentucky. So fun!
Have fun in New York and DC!

wow, that’s quite a lot to do.
This week I’m going to another outdoor concert (Leeland, if you must know)
I’m also leaving on Saturday for a long weekend in Dallas with my mom and sister and Ikea.
Other than that it will be a fairly boring week.
August 27th, 2007 at 3:45 pm
“Eat all the food in the fridge” was totally on my pre-vacation to-do list. And I thought I was the only one who put things like that on the list.
August 27th, 2007 at 3:57 pm
Oy…email me with dates, for I fear that I won’t be around for your trip. SAD!
August 27th, 2007 at 4:01 pm
I have a wedding to go to, but other than that, I’m sans plans. Yippee!
August 27th, 2007 at 4:04 pm
Please ask Jihan to share her love (and mine) of Julab Jamun. It was one of the desserts at my wedding.
I hope u like it…and Juhan has found a n Indian groceries shop.
I’ll have to get u a list of thing sto try and u’ll have to go get some of it…..so i’ll feel like i live near u….and u won’t feel so far away from me. lol

you’re all about converting folks to self-hosted blogs! are you getting paid by yahoo small business?
so! excited! to! see! you! in! new! york! next! week! WOOT!
My plans this week: get pregnant.
August 27th, 2007 at 4:20 pm
Woohoo, I didn’t realize you were coming to NYC! Have fun scrubbing the late August humidity-induced sludge off your faces every night.
…it’s possible that I am a wee bit bitter about not being on vacation myself!
August 27th, 2007 at 4:20 pm
Tomorrow my company is going to announce approximately 500 layoffs, out of a staff of 1700. That’s my week in a nutshell.
(I’m not worried, exactly, but neither am I confident.)
August 27th, 2007 at 5:19 pm
Okay, I need specifics on the stroller as I am in search of TWO for our trip in October. Good for a 4 year old? Reclines?
August 27th, 2007 at 5:23 pm
so does this mean that since you’ll be in NYC that maybe we can meet up for a few?? that would rule
August 27th, 2007 at 5:40 pm
Holy cow you have alot on your plate this week.
My MIL is spending a few days with us this week. She’s got some art classes she wants to attend. So that means keeping the place clean. And being on my best behavior. Oh and soccer practice, playdates and stuff. But hopefully she’ll volunteer to babysit and we can have a free night out. Whoot.
Hope your trip is awesome!
August 27th, 2007 at 6:14 pm
Those news crews would probably interview you if you’d stop wearing head-to-toe denim.
Have fun getting ready for your trip!
August 27th, 2007 at 6:33 pm
Right before going on vacation is super stressful, but it’s so worth it when you’re on the vacation. Have fun!
This week is pretty boring… I am just getting back into the routine of having school full time and working even more hours than I was in the summer. It sucks.
P.S.
You and Britt both totally did the bulletin posts today. Weird!
August 27th, 2007 at 7:01 pm
My goodness, your plate is full! I hate that pre-vacation rushing around…it’s so stressful!
My plans this week/weekend? Move houses.
YUCK! Because I hate moving. But also YAY because I can’t wait to be in our new place!
August 27th, 2007 at 8:57 pm
Can I just state for the record that I am extremely jealous of Janet because she gets to hang out with you in DC? Because I am. Extremely Jealous. You wouldn’t happen to have a layover in Colorado Springs, would you?
This week I have to work. And then go home and do other work. And then do yard work. And also work out. Essentially, it is a “work”-filled week.
August 27th, 2007 at 8:59 pm
Oh, I almost forgot! I have to pee first thing in the morning, too! If I wake up and Tim is in the shower, I just stay in bed until he is done showering so I can go directly from bed to bathroom.
I had a roommate in college who never peed in the mornings and I thought that was the weirdest thing ever.
August 27th, 2007 at 9:09 pm
How can someone NOT pee first thing in the morning? That’s crazy talk.
I’m going to be doing lots of pilates and hopefully organizing my junk/dog/ironing board/office room
August 27th, 2007 at 10:14 pm
We bought that stroller in red for our trip and were very happy with it! Nice and light.
HOw long will you be in NY and what area are you staying in?
August 27th, 2007 at 10:23 pm
Who didn’t want to go to Pacific Science Center? They obviously have no idea what they are missing.
Hooray for vacations! I’m working on my super guest post for while you’re gone. But right now I have to get the kid to eat her damn sandwich….
xo

As time has gone on I find I don’t prepare for vacations until the day before. Seriously – packing for a family of five? Uh, I just make sure I do laundry that week and then pack the night before. Seriously… after I’ve been as anal as you can GET about packing I’ve learned this is sooo much easier.
August 28th, 2007 at 2:07 am
Oye. You should try to stay busy or something. ;o)
Good luck with getting ready for your trip! I’ve got Kevin home for now the fifth day in a row, which usually works fine when we are, say, basking in the sun on some Floridian beach, but when I’m trying to keep my routine? Goingtokillmyselfpleasegotoworkman.
August 28th, 2007 at 3:29 am
2 hours?! Are you kidding me? What is he, a camel?
August 28th, 2007 at 3:38 am
How fun! I’ll be in NYC for one day on sept 11 (I know. It was random)
Let me know what you did and how you liked it…I’m trying to figure out how to spend the time…
August 28th, 2007 at 4:29 am
You are going to have a great time in DC/NYC. I’m with Audrey, any layovers planned in Colorado Springs??
I too have to pee first thing in the morning.
August 28th, 2007 at 5:13 pm
I pee first thing in the morning and usually once in the middle of the night. You would think one would stop drinking water right before bed, but not if “one” is me.
