Nice and easy

Usually when I return from a trip to visit my family the first few days back I think about moving closer to them. It’s not that I hate Seattle, or the city, or that I necessarily want to live closer to my family. It’s just that life where they live is super slow and super easy. There just isn’t a lot to do there. And sometimes not having a lot to do is kinda nice.

You can play outside in real live grass and have a jolly old time kicking the piles of leaves.

You can just hang out and watch your Grandpa walk his new little filly around the yard.

You can even pull up a chair and enjoy some string cheese while watching the mountains with your grandma and great grandma.

And while having lunch at your old high school is always exciting, it’s still very laid back and slow.

Come Saturday night when the only thing to do is hang out at the mall with your friends is right about the time I remember that living the slow life isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

So um yeah, having the mall be the only option for a Saturday night out isn’t very appealing. I’m happy to be back in the city where I can go to an awesome concert on a freakin’ Monday night!

But still, it’s nice to have life slow down every now and again.

I wish that I was playing in a giant pile of leaves instead of working right now! Babboo is too lucky!

I know the feeling. I get that desire to live in my hometown everytime I go back, but after a week or so I’m ready to be back living my own life.

Is that your big orange bag that I love? Oh, and little leaf playing Babboo makes my womb hurt.

That picture of Babboo is EXACTLY why Fall is my favorite season. It’s so beautiful!
It’s always nice to slow down for a bit, but it’s also very nice to return to the way you enjoy your life best. :)

    p.s.
The new house is looking great on the other blog! I couldn’t comment at work because my work sucks. But it’s looking great! Shaun can relate to you right now because he’s also patiently waiting for his condo to be finished.

The exact thing happens to me when I go home. I’m like, ah, relaxing, and then a coupla days later… bored as a monkey.

Sounds like your trip was relaxing. Didn’t know your parents live so close to the mountains. How beautiful! And looks like Babboo got to full appreciate how awesome it is to walk through leaves and hear that satisfying crunch-y sound.

Can’t wait to hear how the concert was.

I am more of a smaller town girl, but when I moved from Salt Lake (Which I realize is not Seattle)to Cache Valley it was a big adjustment.

Oh, the picture of Babboo frolicking in the leaves is adorable! And I love the multi-generational photo with the grandma and great-grandma :)

Looks like a relaxing time. My parents (now) live in the middle of nowhere as well. Great to visit, not to stay. I love your bag in the last picture!!

Love that Babboo is playing in real live grass…you know, as opposed to the fake stuff. I’ve always wanted to jump in a pile of leaves, but have always been afraid that something not so fun is hiding underneath! Hope you guys had a great trip!

I used to jump in the leaves when I was a kid too…there is nothing like it! Small town life does get old though.

I wish someone in my family had a new little filly!

there’s nothing like hanging out at the local mall on a saturday night. =) glad you had fun and babboo got to look so cute playing in the leaves.

[...] When we went out to visit my family a few weeks ago my baby sister was nice enough to pick us up from the airport and drive us out to my folk’s house in the boonies. While making the hour trek she began telling us about how the locals were against the installation of a light rail system. She said nobody wanted it in their neighborhood. [...]

[...] You may recall that we had lunch at my old high school last month. While we were all sitting there enjoying our Subway (what, did you think I’d actually eat school lunch on purpose?) I looked our my dad’s classroom window to see a student sitting on the steps, eating his lunch alone. This particular student was a little heavy, ate with his head hanging low, and appeared to be trying to vanish into the scenery. [...]

[...] Last time I was in my dad’s office was back in November. We all met there to have lunch with it. I walked inside his office for the first time in probably nine years. I smiled when I saw my sister’s velvet picture of a tiger, waiting to pounce. I pointed out to her the part of the tiger’s claw where she mistakenly started to use the brown marker before deciding that it should be more golden. [...]
