gdiapers give-away!
Posted by Isabel on April 8th, 2008. Filed under: Addictions, Give-Aways, My Sweet Babboo.I shared with you last week all about how The King and I are now using flushable diapers for Babboo. We love gDiapers and all that they stand for! We feel better knowing that Babboo’s diapers won’t sit in a landfill for a gazillion years, and instead will biodegrade in 50 days.
Plus, look at how cute they are!
gDiapers are the best of cloth and disposable in an earth-friendly hybrid diaper. They consist of a reusable, cloth outer pants (called the “little g”) and a plastic-free refill that you can FLUSH (or compost, or just throw away). gDiapers are very breathable, so Babboo’s little tushy stays drier (which is helping with his diaper rash). The gDiapers flushable refills contain no plastic, no elemental chlorine, no perfumes, no inks or dyes, no latex, and best of all, no guilt!
I know a lot of readers are interested in what the cost comparison between gDiapers and other diaper systems is. gDiapers cost about the same as other alternative disposables. Yes, they are slightly more expensive ($3-4 more per week) then mainstream disposables, but really, isn’t a happy planet worth a few dollar a week?
Seriously, how can you not feel good about helping the planet?!
Good news for those of you who are anxious to try gDiapers, but not sure where to start, because this week….

That’s right, I’m giving away one gDiapers Starter Kit, which includes: 2 “little g” pants (Babboo has golden orange and genuine vanilla bean), 10 plastic-free, flushable refills, a swishstick and a H.U.G (handy user’s guide).
To enter this give-away, just leave a comment on this post. You have until Friday at midnight (PST) to post your comment. The winner will be announced on Monday the 14th.
Good luck, and remember, even if you don’t have a need for diapers, gDiapers make a wonderful gift.

Okey-doke, you’ve talked me into considering them. I’m not sure our plumbing is up to the task, but maybe I’m wrong. And if not, there’s still less to dump in the landfill.
April 8th, 2008 at 3:10 pm
Cute little outerpants! Not that I have munchkins, but I KNOW people with munchkins!
) Congrats for doing your part!

(not to be considered for the giveaway)
but what an awesome giveaway! I think these are the coolest things ever and I’m totally going to give them as gifts in the future once my friends start having more babies.
April 8th, 2008 at 3:25 pm
Very nifty! I’d love to do this when we have kids – otherwise diapers seem so awful on the environment. It also seems far easier than cloth diapers.
April 8th, 2008 at 3:26 pm
Ack! What a great giveaway!! This could actually be the push I need to start using these…I’ve thought about it since your previous post.
April 8th, 2008 at 3:29 pm
This is a great giveaway, especially since we’re planning on using these on our little one when she gets here and have yet to get it together enough to go buy a starter kit. Everytime I read about someone who loves them it makes me more convinced that they are the way to go. Count me in!
April 8th, 2008 at 3:30 pm
Count me in for the giveaway!
April 8th, 2008 at 3:30 pm
With a 22-month old and a new baby on the way, I am sure that our diaper disposal is having an impact on the environment. I would welcome the opportunity to check out other options. Besides, if my kids’ tush looks as cute as Baboo’s in the photo, who could resist?
April 8th, 2008 at 3:33 pm
I have yet to catch up on the New to Us blog, so this is the first I’m hearing of these diapers, but they sound so cool! It’s like the best of both worlds between cloth and disposable. If I win this giveaway, I’m definitely giving the kit to my brother and his wife. I don’t know if they’ve even thought about what kind of diapers they’re going to use, but I bet they’d love to try these.
April 8th, 2008 at 3:34 pm
Heck ya! I would love to try these out.
I’m currently up to my eyeballs in disposable diapers and am starting to feel a tad guilty about the impact just my family is having on the environment these days. Perhaps this is the answer?
April 8th, 2008 at 3:37 pm
Oh these look cool! I’ve got to try them!!!
April 8th, 2008 at 3:38 pm
I wanted to try these for Ruby, and just never managed to actually order any. I’d LOVE to try them!
April 8th, 2008 at 3:40 pm
My husband and I have been weighing our options of cloth vs. disposable diapers for our first (soon-to-be) child. This sounds like a wonderful compromise!
April 8th, 2008 at 3:42 pm
I have never heard of these before! I am so excited about them. I cant wait to try them out!!
I just bought some regular disposable diapers and was thinking that there has got to be something better out there (besides the regular cloth diapers…yuck!) I can’t wait to tell my friends about them!!! Great idea!!
April 8th, 2008 at 3:49 pm
I actually wanted to buy these diapers since before I was even pregnant! But somehow, he’s a year old and we still haven’t gotten them. I’m still DYING to use them because my husband and I are trying to be more “green.” I figure they’re a lot easier than REAL cloth diapers, and since I hate doing laundry these are perfect!
April 8th, 2008 at 3:56 pm
Fingers crossed!
(Also — first time commenting. Love your blog.)
April 8th, 2008 at 3:57 pm
What great timing. My sister in law is due Sunday and these would be a great gift!
April 8th, 2008 at 3:59 pm
Wow, what a great giveaway! My daughter gets the worst diaper rash, so I bet this would be a huge help.
April 8th, 2008 at 4:02 pm
I ahve been a stalker for months now–thanks for getting me to come out of the woodwork. These would be great for my 4 month old!
April 8th, 2008 at 4:04 pm
Hi .. de-lurking. Love your blog ..
I’m the mom of 4 kiddos .. the latest is just 1 month old. Trying to get the almost 3 year old off of those icky diapers …. she won’t budge !! go figure. My older boys were potty trained by 2 1/2 … she is a tad stubborn!!!
Anyways … Thanks for the good read!
April 8th, 2008 at 4:05 pm
Awesome idea, Isabel. I hear more and more people using cloth diapers and such. I don’t know if they are right for our family, but you never know until you try right?
April 8th, 2008 at 4:06 pm
Yes yes, pick me. I want to see my munchkin in them.
April 8th, 2008 at 4:12 pm
My sis used the g’s on my nephew- they are awesome!
April 8th, 2008 at 4:13 pm
I’ve been planning to use g-diapers for my future baby for a long time now. I’m happy to hear they work well.
April 8th, 2008 at 4:19 pm
Ohhhh – pick me! I have a little one due in July and was just looking at those dipes 2 nights ago!!!
April 8th, 2008 at 4:42 pm
OK. Delurking here for the giveaway!!! I have always been curious about the GDiapers and you totally have my interest!
April 8th, 2008 at 4:44 pm
CUTE UNDERPANTS!
consider sam’s heiny in the running for the give-away!
April 8th, 2008 at 4:44 pm
or alice’s bum, for that matter!
April 8th, 2008 at 4:51 pm
I’m in! Thanks.
April 8th, 2008 at 5:04 pm
OOH! Count me in! We’ve been considering trying gDiapers, and this would be perfect. Now all I have to do is win.
April 8th, 2008 at 5:12 pm
Count me in. I have some preg friends, though we’re almost out of diapers here!
April 8th, 2008 at 5:17 pm
I DO need diapers, as my son refuses to acknowledge the existence of the potty.
But, um, what is the “swishstick” for? Because that scares me just a little…
April 8th, 2008 at 5:18 pm
Don’t consider me for the giveaway. I just wanted to say that they come up with cooler and neater ideas all the time. My baby days are over but this would have been nice to have back in the old days…9 years ago.
April 8th, 2008 at 5:33 pm
Hmmm…love the concept…not sure hubby would let me spend the money, but for free? Sign me up!
April 8th, 2008 at 6:02 pm
I need those! I am so serious! I looked into them once, and I sooooo wanted to buy some, but it costs twice as much per insert as I pay for disposables. Nicky is currently wearing a prefold cloth diaper with vinyl pants. VINYL PANTS!!!! Do you know how happy I would be to have that starter kit?? I could slowly eliminate the vinyl pants!!!
Of course, since this is a random giveaway, I don’t think anything I say will help me win them. I will just wish on a star for them because I heart them.
April 8th, 2008 at 6:13 pm
Holy smokes! What an awesome way to get comments!!!
Glad the gdiapers are workin out for you! (and babboo!)
April 8th, 2008 at 6:17 pm
Count me in please. =)
April 8th, 2008 at 6:29 pm
Oooh, me! I wanted to try gdiapers so bad but I was afraid to spend the start up money and end up not liking them.
April 8th, 2008 at 6:42 pm
Here’s the deal. I’ve just recently started trying to be more aware of conserving energy and the whold ‘green’ idea. (It all started with Clorox Greenworks!). I’d be willing to give gdiapers a try! Count me in, swistle stick and all!
April 8th, 2008 at 6:51 pm
Count me in!
April 8th, 2008 at 7:00 pm
Me, me, me! I want gDiapers!
April 8th, 2008 at 7:01 pm
I haven’t wanted to make the jump to cloth because I’m lazy… but I still feel guilty about it. I’d really like to try these.
April 8th, 2008 at 7:02 pm
i love gdiapers but i haven’t gotten them yet. I want some! i want some!
April 8th, 2008 at 7:15 pm
I’ve been thinking about investing in those things every since Mighty Girl posted about them. Glad to hear another positive review!
April 8th, 2008 at 7:26 pm
No kids for me yet, but everyone I’ve ever known is pregnant or just had a baby (or so it seems). I agree that these would make a great gift and am going to look into them for my sister’s little one.
April 8th, 2008 at 7:51 pm
My sister would love to try these babies out!
April 8th, 2008 at 8:25 pm
One of my favorite thing about reading blogs is finding all this stuff that I wouldn’t know about otherwise. My little neice could use a gDiaper!
April 8th, 2008 at 8:46 pm
Dude, Babboo’s little bum is adorable!
You know I’d love to try these…I don’t know how our plumbing would hold up here at home (it’s really old) but they’d be perfect for being out and about and for when we go to Portland!
April 8th, 2008 at 8:57 pm
Where did you buy them? I’d love to give them a try! I’m glad to hear that diaper rash isn’t a problem with these because I’ve heard of that being an issue with cloth. Pick me, pick me!
April 8th, 2008 at 8:58 pm
count me in for the giveaway! And have I told you how lovely you look today?
I would like to give these a try. You might have a convert here!
April 8th, 2008 at 9:19 pm
This is an awesome giveaway! I use cloth and disposable for Courtney – she leaks out of our cloth diapers, though, because it’s hard to get the leg holes tight enough around her tiny thighs.
April 8th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
Wow! Thanks for doing the research for me! My youngest just got out of diapers three months ago, and in another 4 months I’ll be dealing with a new baby, I’m excited to go the earth friendly route for sure! Cross your fingers for me!
April 8th, 2008 at 10:18 pm
Awesome! I have a brand new nephew (1st in the family!) coming soon and would love to give these to him.
April 8th, 2008 at 10:51 pm
So cool! I’ve been interested in these for a while….it’s nice to hear they actually work.
And I know lots of babies who would love them too!
April 8th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
No babies for us yet! But our good friends are due in August, and this would make a good gift! Our friend even said that all she really wanted from other people was diapers.
April 8th, 2008 at 11:29 pm
No babies here, but you never know when things will change. Or I could also do the nice thing and give them to a friend…
April 9th, 2008 at 12:21 am
i’ve been thinking of changing for the past year for my little peanut, so this could give me the kick in the envirobutt ! Thanks for this contest, it’s awesome !
April 9th, 2008 at 12:44 am
I would HEART bio-degradable diapers. They are pretty cute, I do believe.
April 9th, 2008 at 12:52 am
I’d love to try ‘em! Potty training isn’t quite working yet, and we’re firmly still in diaper days. And, dang, gdiapers are so much cuter than those crappy cartoon characters!
April 9th, 2008 at 1:04 am
Hey, I have really been wanting to try these! I looked at them online just yesterday and thought they looked really great. I have an 8 month old little angel and she would be thrilled to have these!
April 9th, 2008 at 1:32 am
Hey! Whatcha doin? I have no need for the pooper catchers but I can find someone who does!!
April 9th, 2008 at 2:36 am
We use BumGenius 3.0 diapers, but I’ve always been intrigued with gDIapers. How do you like them? Have you tried any cloth? Thanks for considering me!
April 9th, 2008 at 2:40 am
I would love to try these out w/ my new baby that is coming in August.
April 9th, 2008 at 2:53 am
Do you send the diapers with Babboo to daycare too? Or are they just for home use?
April 9th, 2008 at 3:04 am
Sign me up! We’re all about the cloth here, but I would love something a little more “travel-friendly”! Especially with all our summer vacations coming up!
April 9th, 2008 at 3:34 am
These are totally awesome. While I don’t have any kids, I have good friends that are pregnant right now that I think would love these!
April 9th, 2008 at 3:37 am
I obviously don’t need them, but one of the Canby girls had a baby boy yesterday! and the best auntie competition is on. And, you know I have to win, right?
April 9th, 2008 at 4:42 am
How cool of you! Way to spread the love. Count me entered into the contest. Professor X wants his diapers to do their part for the earth.
April 9th, 2008 at 11:05 am
I’ve considered these before but had never known anyone that had used them, now I do and I want ‘em bad. LOL. Glad to see you are saving the environment one poopy diaper at a time, keep up the good work!
April 9th, 2008 at 12:13 pm
Seems like a great in-between from regular disposable and cloth. I have seen them, but never heard from anyone who uses them. Thanks for the info.
April 9th, 2008 at 12:46 pm
so cute! they seem great–especially on the go. will your pre-school use them, or do they make him wear regular disposables?
April 9th, 2008 at 1:02 pm
70 comments???
ppl love free stuff!
what a way to de-lurk huh?
anyway, these look cool…i will check them out. it’s sure worth the extra few dollars to save my kid’s dirty diapers from sitting in a landfill for 100years.
good on u for going green.
April 9th, 2008 at 4:33 pm
Well, since the Professor seems to be too sensitive to all but one type of diaper we have tried, I would love to try out these if they are helpful with rashes, etc. Also, since our garbage production has tripled since the Professor was born, I wouldn’t mind cutting down on that too!!! Hooray for G-diapers!!!
April 9th, 2008 at 4:39 pm

I’ve been wanting to try these diapers…I hope I win!
thanks
April 9th, 2008 at 6:28 pm
Those are EXACTLY the kind of diapers I will want to use when I have kids. I was just telling my mom yesterday how I will be using biodegradable or cloth diapers when I have kids. I heart our Earth! And I love all the different colors for the cloth part! So stylish!
April 9th, 2008 at 6:30 pm
P.S.
I didn’t know if I needed to specify that I am entering this contest. They would make an awesome gift and I would love to see them in person before I gave them away.
April 9th, 2008 at 7:05 pm
These are pretty sweet dipes! I’ve been using cloth and loving it, but I’m totally in for these guys!
April 9th, 2008 at 11:47 pm
I’ve been thinking about the gDiapers for a while now, but just can’t convince myself to make the switch with my almost 2 year old. This could certainly push me over the edge, though. Congrats for making the switch and loving it!
April 10th, 2008 at 12:45 am
sign me up!!!
April 10th, 2008 at 1:22 am
I’ve been thinking about going more “eco friendly” with my next baby (due in 2 weeks!) I hope I win!
April 10th, 2008 at 4:00 am
A friend of mine has having a baby in May – I’m entering for her!!!
April 10th, 2008 at 4:24 am
Oh Isabel, pick me!!
April 10th, 2008 at 4:43 am
There is actually less of a price difference than I thought. Good to know.
April 10th, 2008 at 1:28 pm
How cool! I’m glad to see they’re not infinitely more expensive than other diapers, and I’m sure after a while you get used to the flushing. I’d love to try them out on Jack (seriously, those diaper covers are so cute) and see if I could use them for our next baby.
Isabel, have you used them at night? How are they on leakage? Have you had any blow-outs (which I realize are highly more common in infants than toddlers)? Will they use them at Babboo’s school? I did love hearing that they are better for diaper rash, which Jack’s been getting a lot lately.
April 10th, 2008 at 2:58 pm
What a great product!
April 10th, 2008 at 3:17 pm
Sounds great! I’d love a chance to win the kit!
April 10th, 2008 at 4:14 pm
Amazingly – for some reason which I can only attribute to being a Mom and therfore there’s just too much *stuff* in my brain – I never thought to just throw them away. Our house and plumbing are too old for the g… but throwing them away = BRILLIANT! sheesh
)
I’m back on board the gTrain.

Ooooo Oooooo Ooooo Pick me! Pick me! I’ll be real good and use ‘em, I promise. (I’ll put my arm down now)
Seriously though I’d love to give these a whoorl. I love that they are a nice mix of eco-conscious cloth diapers but with the ease of disposables.
I’ll cross my fingers…and legs…and toes…
April 10th, 2008 at 5:05 pm
this is a great way to save the planet they are cute too. Please send them my way.
April 10th, 2008 at 5:23 pm
One of my best friends is about to have a baby any day now and I would LOVE to win these for her. What an AWESOME product!
April 10th, 2008 at 6:06 pm
I would love to win this gdiaper starter kit. I have been eyeing these in the store.
April 10th, 2008 at 6:47 pm
Oooh, I’d love to win some of these diapers! I’ve really been wanting to try them, plus I think they might help with my baby’s recurrent diaper rash.
April 10th, 2008 at 8:24 pm
Ooh. Sign me up.
April 11th, 2008 at 7:25 am
Oh yeah, sign me up. My little guy needs these!
April 11th, 2008 at 7:32 pm
WOW! I had never heard of these and I am SO interested! Regular diapers have been bugging me for so long – but my husband was so afraid of cloth – so we never did anything about it. This is an answer to my problems! I’m going to have to investigate further.
April 11th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
I’m due with my second son in June and would love to try G-diapers! I’ve heard great things about them.
April 11th, 2008 at 10:07 pm
I hopefully only have a few months left of diapers but I’m so curious, I had to enter.
April 12th, 2008 at 1:06 am
I’m in!
April 12th, 2008 at 5:01 am
I’d love to give them a try for my new little one. I love that they are so cute and not covered in cartoons!!
