I have a friend who lost his sense of smell after a battle with cancer, and I always forget. Like I'll say "Dude, do you smell that?!?!" and he'll sarcastically say "Yep." Or I'll tell him to smell a great smelling candle or something. I always feel bad afterwards but he doesn't seem to mind too much. I do it all the time.
