so I guess this is the part where I have to pick teams now?
July 4th, 2008 @ 12:01 am

Hey everybody, it’s Carly here to guest post on this fabulous 4th of July. When Isabel first asked me to guest post, she said I should talk about the Twilight books she’s been reading and how she’s been desperate to get me to read them with her. I said sure I guess I can blog about that, not really understanding why she chose that topic. I figured maybe she was just trying to help me pick a topic in case I needed help. But then I got home that evening to find a present on my doorstep. Something from Wal-Mart.com. Hmmm.. that’s odd. I haven’t purchased anything from Wal-Mart.com. In fact, I haven’t even shopped at a Wal-Mart in about 7 months. (I gave up Wal-Mart at the beginning of the year. It feels great. You should do it too. Just don’t ask me to give up Target.)

So I sat down at my desk and ripped open the package.

Of course. I should have known that she was too attached to her own copies to loan me those. So instead she buys me my very own copy. And that better explains why she wanted me to blog about it. Also attached was a note that read “Please be a nerd with me. Please.” How can you say no to that? Even though I’m halfway through another book and I have three more waiting on me, I know that before the holiday weekend is up I will have started this book. And if my reaction to it is anything like her reaction, I won’t be able to put it down. Although 500 pages? Really? Oy. I guess it’s a good thing it’s summer and there are no good tv shows on.

So I guess I’m about to be thrown back into the realm of teen angst and young love. Only with vampires. I’m sure I’ll dig it. I mean I did used to read all of those Christopher Pike and R.L. Stine books when I was a teen.

*********

Happy 4th of July everyone. Be safe and don’t blow yourself up with fireworks.

P.S. I screwed this up the first time and posted it as soon as I wrote it instead of waiting until Friday the 4th. My bad.

Hola Carly! I just bought this book, too (breaking my own resolution not to buy any new books this year. Whooops.)! So we can rediscover nerdiness together!

so…i totally just brought the book too and FINISHED it last night. My only reccomendation for you guys if you just did the same thing is to have the second book on hand so you can begin. The author does give you a taste of the second book with the first chapter in the back of this book but she knew how to put cash in her pocket! Im on team Edward, theres just something about him - maybe its too early to pick a team though?

Oh yes. You WILL have to pick a team, but keep your mind open until you’ve read all three books.

Love these books! I’m reading “Eclipse” now. I have to say that if you loved Christopher Pike as I did, then these will definitely be right up your alley, even though they’re quite different.

YES!!! More and more people are discovering the awesomeness that is Twilight. Ah, I love them. I’m obsessed.

You will have to pick a team, but there’s “Team Edward”, “Team Jacob”, or “Team Switzerland”. You’ll understand what all these mean once you’ve read all 3. The first question I ask everyone after they’ve read all 3 is, “So, what team are you on?!” It’s important.

And just so ya know, Team Edward is the only way to go, haha! :)

So Carly, how far did you get?

And to everyone else…yes, you must pick a team. And you must read all three books before you choose.

    HOORAY!

I loved me some Christopher Pike when I was a kid, and I can’t wait until my copy of Twilight works its way through the library hold list!

[...] I have started the Twilight series and even though I’m only 5 chapters in, I can already tell I will be hooked. So people at the airport don’t try and make small talk with me. I’ll be too into my book to care. [...]
