I'm becoming more and more like my parents all the time, and it is just plain freaky. I'd say the worst is the love of antique stores and flea markets. When I was growing up, I spent so much time stuck at these types of places that I used to swear up and down when I was old enough to live on my own, I would never ever do any antique shopping. And now that Nick and I are doing all this robot-building, we go to antique stores ALL THE TIME looking for parts. Sometimes even with my parents, like today. Yikes.

ooh! i LOVE raisins and brown sugar in my oatmeal.
my voice sounds exactly like my mom on the phone, but i've known that since i was in high school. i also catch myself saying things to my little brother and sounding exactly like my mom. he's nice enough not to point it out to me, though...

GAG!

I must have my oatmeal plain - with milk and sugar. NO RAISINS MUST EVEN LOOK AT MY OATMEAL, MUCH LESS JUMP IN!!!

And bread? If I even smell cinnamon raisin bread I just may hurl. And don't even THINK about hiding raisins in my rice pudding!!!

(Did you read my post about a week ago when my mother came to visit and brought two loaves of cinnamon raisin bread and then was surprised when I told her - for the 100th time in my life since I was born - that I hate raisin bread - she acted SURPRISED?)

I swear this woman knows nothing about me even after 38 years. LOL.

Umm... I can eat raisins plain, straight out of their little box though - and I love raisin bran too.

Does that make me weird?

I alphabetize my recipes and my spices, like my mom and my dad, respectively. Sigh.

Oh and the next year, for Christmas, I got my Mom a scarf she liked so much that she used it as the inspiration and color scheme when she remodeled her kitchen. The crazy part is that the scarf is black, silver, coral, and turquoise! The kitchen is unusual, but it looks fantastic.
