In which I return to the Land of the Living

Posted by Isabel on January 5th, 2009. Filed under: Me, Random, The New House, Work.

It started to snow AGAIN (!!) last night.  And then I started to freak out a little.  I mean, I hate to admit this, but I was actually looking forward to coming back to work.  Thankfully (thankfully!) most of the snow cleared up overnight and I was able to ride the bus into work.

It’s a 2009 miracle!

(You know that I’ll be bitching about being back to work by about Thursday of this week, right?)

(Mostly I’m just excited about using my new space heater here at the office.  Which, by the way, works famously!)

So while I did experience intense bouts of cabin fever, we still had a fun time off together as a family.   We did a lot of things around the house (none of which include mopping or sweeping.  Or making any beds.)  But dude, progress on the new house.

I promise to post “before” and “after” pictures of said progress as soon as I remember how to work my camera.  And my laptop.  (Being away from technology for this amount of time makes me stupid.)  (Or rather, more stupid then usual.)

Mostly I slept way too much.  Ate far too many pieces of Papa Murphy’s new chicken bacon deLITE pizza.  Didn’t take enough showers.  And stayed in my pajamas far too late in the day.  Come to find out, going to work everyday is what keeps me motivated on the whole personal cleanliness of my life.

(The King bought me some of that fancy “you don’t have to wash your hair everyday.  Just spray some of this expensive crap on your hair instead” dry shampoo goodness for Christmas.  When he asked the sales girl if if worked she was all “I don’t know.  I’ve never tried it.  I just wash my hair.”  B*tch.)

(It does works.  And also makes me feel like I don’t need to shower everyday.)

(Not a good combination.)

(Why the parenthesis?!)

So yeah, I’m back in the Land of the Living today, freshly showered, hair washed and nice work clothes pressed.  My face is fully make-uped, I’m wearing perfume, jewelry and heels.

It feels good.

Oh so very good.

So tell me, do you think I can make it to Thursday before I start complaining about being back at work?  HA, who am I trying to kid?!

I wasn’t a victim of cabin fever, but I have been running amok these last couple of weeks, and dang it, it is nice to come to work and get away from the house and the decorations and the “must clean this and cook that” mentality I’ve had for a while.

I give you until Wednesday afternoon. :)

If you make it to the end of today, I’ll be very impressed. I wanted to go home the minute my alarm went off this morning. WAH. We watched an ungodly amount of TV this 4-day weekend (seriously… I think we watched NINE movies – thank you Netflix Instant via Xbox Live!) and I could happily spend the rest of my life like that.

    Good for you!

I have survived my company’s personell cuts (4 fired today, 3 promoted…I was part of the three. Wahoo!)

See, that’s my problem. I never go to an office. Hence the sweaty running clothes that I will wear till bedtime. Sigh.

If you are anything like me, you’ll be complaining by Thursday of this week. Or sooner.

I was all gung-ho to get out of the house finally and back to work and back to our normal routine, but dude…already dreading the workplace.

I was employing the “if you don’t look out the window, then it’s not snowing” method last night. It seemed to work. I just had a VERY IMPORTANT meeting this morning that I didn’t want snow to ruin.

And, I love the Delite pizzas. I think you’ve just solved dinner for me. :)

The snow started to freak me out a bit last night. I’m glad to see it gone and the trusty rain back. I was not too happy to return knowing I have a lot of pressure on me at work and not a lot of support from the higher ups and well, Monday turned out to be all its cracked up to be. :-)

I felt the exact same way today. Yeah, yeah, days and days of sleeping late and lounging in jammies and watching cartoons and eating cookies and falling in love with Edward (Yes, finally!) was fun, but getting back into the routine was nice this morning. I was just glad that my pants still zipped after all that lounging and eating. Whew.

Plus, it’s nice for everyone to go back to work, because the posts pick up. I’m glad you’re back!

It’s both funny and tragic how fast the circumstances you wished for become ones you are tired of – story of my life.

I am going to need to check out that dry shampoo. Many of us in these here parts could use it.

I always complain about how much I hate being so busy all the time, but if I get more than 3 days completely off (as in no work or school) I’m bored out of my mind. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the boredom during this break because of Christmas and working tons of OT before I start school next week. It seemed this break was way way way too short. :(

Oh my gosh! I want to try that dry shampoo! How many uses do you think you can get out of it? 2 oz. is so small!!!
