In which I actually wore a dress to work everyday this week

Posted by Isabel on January 16th, 2009. Filed under: Addictions, Work.

Today is Friday. And guess what? I’m totally wearing a dress at work today. Which means I DID IT. I didn’t think I could do it, but I did.

I wore a dress/skirt every single day this week.

And dude, it was harder then I thought it would be. Mostly because it’s so damn cold here in Seattle right now and having legs not covered by slacks wasn’t fun. (Thankfully I had my new leggings to wear under my outfits. THEY ROCK! And haa, I bought them on sale for $5 each!)

Monday I decided to wear one of the two new dresses I had bought at Macy’s the previous week FOR FIFTEEN DOLLARS.

Here are the tags to prove the awesome deal I got on these dresses. Mind you I paid 50% off the final (red) price. Do you see the original prices? While the dresses are super cute, they’re not $148 cute.

And per the request (of like two readers) here are pictures of my outfits.

Here is the Monday dress.  It’s flowy and has big velvet flower accents on it.  (I also got my necklace at Macy’s years ago for a song!)

monday

And here is the Tuesday skirt. Purchased a few weeks ago at Old Navy for $1.99! (I think my total outfit cost less then $10!) The King hated this outfit. I think he isn’t ready for high-waisted bottoms. Hey, I feel his pain. But for $1.99, I don’t care.

tuesday

Here is my Wednesday dress. I bought this one a month ago at Old Navy for $3.00. Don’t tell anyone, but it’s a maternity dress. I like to buy clothes like that, if they don’t really look like maternity. And this one doesn’t. It’s actually very slimming. Go figure.

wednesday

Thursday I wore another one of my $1.99 Old Navy skirts. This one is pleated and reminds me of when I was in high school and was super into pleated skirts. I wore it with my favorite crushed velvet blazer that someone gave me as a hand-me-down. So again, this outfit was practically FREE.

thursday

Today I decided to wear the second dress I got at Macy’s last week. It’s stretchy and dreamy and cozy and I think I love it the most. And, seriously, for the price I got it for it deserves to be loved deeply.

friday

So there you have it…I accomplished a goal. And, be assured, I won’t be doing this again anytime soon (wearing dresses and accomplishing goals). In fact I’m pretty sure I might wear jeans and a t-shirt to work everyday next week.

Who am I kidding…I don’t even own t-shirts.

Oh yeah, and my boss did notice this week’s wardrobe choices.

I loooove that crushed velvet blazer, and I’m not usually a fan of crop-sleeved jackets/coats.

Okay. Tuesday shirt: from J. Crew? If so, I totally have it too.

I’m in love with your crushed velvet blazer too! Also, I never would have dreamed that the black dress was maternity wear. It looks great on you!

FYI – I just heard that the Old Navy 1/2 off clearance sale is going on NOW NOW NOW! I’m on my way… (This is why my children are dressed exclusively in O.N. & Target clearance. We’re classy like that.)

  12. Carrie

You look fab. And thank you, I received some really beautiful mail today! :)

Okay, if I were ever to wear dresses or skirts again — and that’s unlikely except in case of funerals or weddings — I would so want to have your Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday outfits. I’d even pay twice as much as you did for them!

  14. becky

You look awesome! And how cool that you came up with 5 new outfits. It gets hard to not be in a slump of wearing the same outfits over and over. You rock at not slumping! Very impressed.

  15. Kate

First of all, you look adorable. Second, LOVE the outfits. Third, love you!

You look marvelous dah-ling! Every day of the week that is….

Love your outfits, and the price of them too!
