In which I ask the interweb what “Casino Attire” is
Posted by Isabel on January 19th, 2009. Filed under: Random, The King. The King’s work place is finally having their 2008 Holiday party this week. We have yet to decide if “Casino Night” is worth shelling out $50 for a sitter for Babboo. (If we can talk our friends into watching him for us in exchange for a frozen pizza then we’re definitely going to CASINO NIGHT!)
Okay, so once we get the “are we or aren’t we” part of the equation taken care of we need to move on to the second most important equation about The King’s office Holiday party:
What in the crap does “Casino Attire” mean exactly, because that’ s what the official invite says to wear?
I was under the impression that last week’s “Monday dress” would be appropriate “Casino Attire”. Maybe even something a little like what Vesper wore in “Casino Royale”:

I am pretty sure I could pull this look off, no?

(Yeah okay, maybe I can’t pull it off.)
I told The King I’d wear whatever he wants just as long as he takes inspiration from Bond:

Dude, ooh- la-la, Mr. Danial Criag.
(Plus, The King actually owns the attire to pull this look off.)

Yummy!
But The King doesn’t agree with me as to what “Casino Attire” is. He says “Casino Attire” constitutes adult diapers, sequins and lots of hair spray.
Something a little more along this line:

I’m thinking not so much.
So tell me, what do you think appropriate “Casino Attire” is?

I think Monday’s dress would be appropriate….

Any guess I’d make would be wrong. But I always love a guy in a tux. Make him wear that regardless of what you put on.

Having worked as a blackjack dealer for seven years, I am quite certain that casino attire is the latter…adult diapers would have been better than people just peeing in their empty cups. They also pulled money out of their sweaty socks.
But I’m assuming your hosts simply mean, “dressy.” Your Monday or Wednesday dress would be great!

I think you should wear something dressy but comfortable. MOnday’s outfit looked awesome on MOnday and I’m sure it’ll look awesome on Casino Night. Definatly make the King wear a tux.

Oh, go Bond Girl Bombshell or go home! Even if everyone else is wearing diapers and sequins, you’re going to be the hottest lady in the room! Every time you see casinos in movies, the cool chicks are the ones with the smoky eyes, slinky dresses, and oodles of diamonds.
In real life, maybe not so much, but what would you rather wear? Diapers or a killer dress?

Hey Isabel-
I don’t know what “Casino attire” is but i’m thinking it means something slinky and slightly revealing. You know what that means…time for you to grab your friend and head to Macy’s for some respectable hootchie wear.
And then you’ll have to get new shoes to go with… ooh and how about a stylish new clutch… and don’t forget about earrings, definitely new earrings that sparkle, and (infinity)
Happy shopping, girlfriend!

You’d be fine with Monday’s dress. Especially with some smokin’ eyes & a cigarette in a long filter. Do you have any furs? Yeah, me neither.

All you need is a buffet-stained tshirt, shorts or capris, white athletic socks, running shoes, FANNY PACK (key!), cigarette, plastic cup with quarters in it and cocktail.
Done.

I was thinking a little black dress, with a sparkly shoe.
BTW, I got my pendant. I love it!

I vote hair spray, sequins, and fishnet hose. (Oh wait, we’re not talking about the stage entertainment, are we?)
Can’t go wrong with a little black dress, matching hose, awesome heels, sparkly jewelry, an updo, and smoking eyes.

If I read “Casino Attire”, I’d definitely think more along the lines of Vesper’s outfit (and since I never saw Casino Royale, I had to go to Wikipedia to find out who the heck Vesper was… and now suddenly that stupid Quantum of Solace movie is making a lot more sense!) but I think the King’s interpretation is much more hilarious and probably more accurate.
You can definitely wear Monday’s dress… a black dress always works!

I have no input other than: man this post had me cracking up! GOOD LUCK!

I just got back from Vegas, and I gotta say… anything goes. Just cover yourself in cigarette smoke and you’ll be fine.

MMMMmmmm, Daniel Craig.
Yeah, I second (or fifth? seventh?) the Monday dress nomination. I covet that dress. And the ability to pull it off.
