In which the fake mustache takes over the interweb
Posted by Isabel on March 19th, 2009. Filed under: Addictions, The King.Somewhere between arriving in Orange County and entering into Disneyland, The King and Babboo became fixated with fingerstaches. So fixated, in fact, that my boys wore their own fingerstaches into the Happiest Place on Earth.

Low and behold, it made our trip to Disneyland that much more fun.

Upon returning to Seattle The King and Babboo have remained fixated on (fake) facial hair.
(Fake) Mustaches, in particular.
(I mean seriously, how awesome is fake facial hair?)
(It’s very awesome, BTW.)
Today is The King’s birthday. I decided to marry his love for ’staches with my need to celebrate his birthday. That is how I ended up spending my afternoons this week making a pile of felt fake mustaches for The King’s birthday party tomorrow night.

As you can see I made them in a variety of different colors.

And a variety of shapes and sizes.

Personally, I think that bigger is better.

I also like ones I can wear around my neck.

And use at a moment’s notice.

And staches made out of soap:

In honor of the awesomeness that is fake mustaches and The King’s birthday I’m asking you, the lovely interweb, to share your fake mustaches with the rest of the interweb world.
You can print your fake mustache template HERE. Or heck, be creative like Durga and the Traveling Stache people and make your own.
Whatever you do, don’t be dumb like my coworker and REFUSE TO TAKE A PICTURE with the ’stache.
Because the interweb hates a party-pooper.

Take your best fake mustache picture and post it to your blog. Make sure to tell me where you posted it so we can all appreciate the fake mustaches.
Go forth and ’stache!
Also, Happy Birthday from our cat….

Who is camera shy.
And a blogger who is anonymous.

And the Hollow Squirrel family

And readers who don’t have blogs!

Of course the lovely Operation Pink Herring and Matt Damon Joel (and kitty) played along.

And dude, I think I can feel Steph’s ’stache. E-gads.

Happy Birthday from our long lost friends who moved to Reno…May and family.

Noah of Liza Was Here fame sends his ’stachtastic love.

The King was happy to get this greeting from the always-lovely Jihan.

Even Rhett Miller came to play along in honor of The King’s birthday.

(Happy Birthday, Baby! Thanks for always putting up with my crap.)

Hey for anyone who wants to participate, you can go to your flickr account and edit any photo with picnik and add a moustache! It’s fun!

I’d love to humiliate myself with a fake mustache but alas, I’m at work and they frown on non-work-related shenanigans. Happy birthday to the King, I hope he appreciates the true gift of rampant faux facial hair!

You are an amazing wife!

We had fun with ours. Might even make it as our Christmas cards
Happy Birthday to the King!

Ha… I love that Preston is hiding behind the stache. Not the point, Preston! Of course, Max got off easy because I drew his on with MS Paint
(Madison doesn’t deserve a ’stache because he’s been waking me up in the middle of the night by chomping on my feet lately. NOT COOL.)
Happy birthday, King!

If only I hadn’t left my camera at my parents’ house last weekend! I’m playing along in spirit, though. Happy Birthday King!

Hope the King’s birthday was great, indeed! Not one to miss a party (although a little late) I do have a stache pic for you! Will email to you, as it appears I have abandoned my blog.
