In which I learn it’s called “the sign of the horns”

I wonder if I should even point out the fact that it’s been a little while since I last posted? I wonder if I should give you all of my reasons like the fact that work is INSANE…and that church responsibilities are keeping me super busy…and the fact that we left the country for a little bit. (Okay. we were only in Canada. But still, NOT AMERICA!)

Yeah, I’m not even going to talk about any of this.

Hey internet, guess where I am? I’m in New Mexico. For th entire week. On a business trip. And guess what? It’s gorgeous here. I’m sitting in my lovely hotel room with the balcony door open and the SUNSHINE covering everything in the room. I didn’t have a jacket on earlier while doing inspections outside. No jacket. You know it was pissing down rain when I left Seattle this morning? And that I’m not sure the last time I saw the sun.

Anyway, I’m in Albuquerque for the first time. It’s just me and one other (male) coworker. We were scheduled to meet up with two of our out of town clients. They both canceled on us yesterday. So here we are, in Albuquerque, only able to do 50% of what we had planned to do. And that’s not all. He and I will be doing lots of driving. Just the two of us in a car. For hours. And days. And holy cow, kill me now.

Seriously.

I’m really nervous about it. I brought two books and my iPod. He’s going to do all the driving and I’m going to be brave and just read, even thought I’m pretty sure it’s going to upset him. (Gulp.) I MUST BE STRONG.

I realized on the plane this morning that this will be the longest I’ve ever been away from Babboo. I didn’t even wake him up this morning to say “good bye”. (Okay, so it was 5am and he looked too cute asleep in his bed.) I wish you could give snuggles over the phone. He’s is pretty good about talking on the phone, until he gets bored. Naturally.

I have a list of restaurants to eat at this week, thanks to my friend who used to live here. Tonight I’m going to her #1 recommended restaurant. When I look it up in the AAA book, it only got one star. I’m still going to eat there and love every minute of it. (At least I plan on loving every minute of it.) (I haven’t eaten anything today, except some pretzels, so I’ve got food on the brain.)

There you have it, I’m in New Mexico for the week. There you have it.

And with that, here’s the cutest picture of My Sweet Babboo taken at Cleavland Dam in Vancouver, Canada.

rocking out for blog

This was in no way staged. The kid has been randomly rocking out with the sign of the horns for the past month.

Dude, I love this kid.

I might be wrong, but I always thought that when the thumb is out, your flashing “I Love You” in sign language and when the thumb is on the middle finger it’s the sign of the horns.

New Mexico is beautiful almost any time of the year. That’s where we went for vacation this year. I hope you have a good trip!

Have fun in New Mexico, it’s pretty! And what do you know, I’m only one state away!

    *waves from Colorado*

I don’t know of much to do in NM but I do know that Julia Roberts lives there with her family. Maybe you’ll run into her or something? I mean that would be cool, right?

    Have a good week.

Wow sounds like an “interesting” trip! Enjoy the food and I hope the drive isn’t too long and your book lasts!!

Random memory: I met a girl from Albuquerque when studying in Russia… she was the coolest person ever and I loved spending 3 months in her company… dunno why I felt the need to tell you that, it just had to be said ;o)

If you like spicy/hot food, be sure to try some green chili stew. IT’S DA BOMB!!

I agree with Anna, Babboo is flashing you the “I Love You” sign. It’s sign language. Don’t believe me? Here you go: http://deafness.about.com/od/expressionandfun/a/iloveyouhand.htm
